"Really?"

"Yeah..." I say as I look Aaron in the eyes.

"Why would you think that? I could never get tired of you."

"Well, you were gone for so long. I couldn't really help it," I admit.

"Aph... even if I was gone for a year, my feelings wouldn't change. It would take a lot more than time to change me," Aaron assures me, his hands on my shoulders. I nod.

"That's nice to hear," I admit. Aaron smiles, and takes me into his arms. My cheeks light afire, but I just ignore it. I hear footsteps from behind us, and Aaron must have heard it too because we both turn around.

"Come on, lovebirds! We're about to play some volleyball!" Katelyn exclaims.

Oh right, I forgot we were at a barbecue. Garroth and Laurence decided to host one, cause why not.

Aaron and I look back at eachother competitively, and race to the door.

"Who's playing?" I ask once we get outside. Garroth looks over at me from the net.

"Katelyn and I. We were looking for someone to play with us," he says. I look at Aaron.

"Katelyn! You're with me!" I shout, not breaking Aaron's stare. Katelyn cheers.

"Oh, you're on," Aaron says with a smirk.

"Bring it," I challenge.

We go to our sides of the net. Garroth whispers something to Aaron, and Aaron smirks and meets my gaze. I smirk back.

"You ready to win this?" Katelyn asks.

"No, I'm ready to dominate this," I reply confidently. Katelyn smiles, and serves the ball.

Katelyn and I make a good team, she spikes and I dive, but I can admit that Aaron and Garroth are a hard team to go against.

By the end of the game, everyone is watching us. It's game point-24 to 24.

"Come on, Katelyn. We can do this," I encourage. Aaron serves the ball. Everyone goes quiet.

"Got it!" Katelyn shouts as she leaps to hit the ball. The ball goes straight to Garroth, who hits it without trouble, to me. I stumble slightly, but I get the ball over the net. Aaron hits it, Katelyn hits it, and it goes on for a good while before one of us messes up.

I hit it, and it doesn't quite get over the net, so Katelyn hits it up, and I jump as high as I can to spike it straight down.

Then the ball meets the ground on the other side.

I look at Katelyn with wide eyes, and she wears a big smile. Everyone cheers, and Garroth and Aaron meddle in their defeat.

Katelyn and I turn to Aaron and Garroth, making funny faces and laughing. Garroth has the expression you would expect him to have. Aaron and I meet each other's gaze, and I continue laughing. To my surprise, he smiles.

Why does he have to be so perfect?

"You know, you two would make a good team," Katelyn says, bringing me out of my thoughts. Aaron winks at me before I look over at Katelyn.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"Play a game with him. On his team. You'll see," she says. I look back over at Aaron, who is talking with Garroth. Garroth turns to us.

"I want a rematch," he says.

"Aw, is someone butthurt?" I tease. Everyone laughs. Well, except for Garroth. Aaron tries to stifle a laugh.
