Daedalus' POV

He grinned like a maniac as the Pegasus swooped up into the air and away. There could be no better feeling than flying, he thought.

Poppy, though it seemed, didn't agree. Her cheeks were showing a light green, and she was nearly choking poor Oakley. Being her typical stubborn self, she had downright refused to have to hold on to his waist, so was sitting in front. Her blonde ponytail whipped in his face, smelling like a nice fresh mix of mint and coriander. Weird for a girl to smell like herbs, but he liked it.

"Tell me again why you got me to ride with you?" Poppy asked, eyes squeezed tight.

"Well, dear Penelope, I couldn't leave my best friend to make her own way to Camp Jupiter on foot. Plus I rather suspect that Theo boy has a crush on you and wanted to give you a break." She reddened slightly at this. "Knowing you'd delight in my charming company" he added, causing her to roll her eyes.

"Whatever you say, horse whisperer" she replied, small smirk on her face.

"Horse whisperer?" Dalus frowned. "Did my newly acquired power spark this new nickname by any chance?"

Poppy nodded. "Of course. I thought it necessary."

"Alright then Powder Puff Girl." He knew he'd hit home when she whipped around, green eyes indignant.

"What did you just call me?"

"I know about your secret makeup obsession, dearest. I'm sure Grannie Aphrodite would be proud."

She punched him swiftly. Poppy had picked up that unfortunate habit from her mother. Dalus' tan muscles arms were usually peppered with purplish marks by the end of each day. He didn't mind, for some odd reason.

Shaking his head, he refocused on the task at hand. The two other Pegasus' had drawn a bit in front, so he sent a quick whip of the reins.

Theo and Raven were both more experienced riders than him, and he had to concentrate to make sure he didn't fall behind again. The problem was his mind was thinking of so much at one time that it was hard to narrow it down. This also caused him slight insomnia issues at night.

The landscape below was interesting and ever changing. At the present it was a lush green forest, with a thin river rubbing between.

Dalus blinked. Were his eyes deceiving him? He thought he saw around thirty black shapes moving about the trees. They looked like humans, but they moved with such speed and grace he couldn't be sure.

"Hey" he called out to the others. "Do you guys see that?" One hand pointed down while the other subconsciously brushed his black hair of his forehead.

A chorus of 'yeses' returned to him.

"Ready?" He asked Poppy. She tilted her head suspiciously.

"What?"

He grinned, before turning the horse down an plummeting towards the ground. A few choice swear words escaped Poppy's lips. He could see Jet and Cloud in his rear vision, following them.

He could now see the pack all wore strange silvery clothing, and wolves darted out between them. All of them had various weapons strapped to their backs along with rucksacks.

Before they were about to land, in a nice green area just behind the pack, one of them turned. A girl. A human. Long brown hair with strawberry blonde streaks. Her light blue eyes narrowed, and she shot an arrow straight towards Poppy. Dalus quickly turned Oakley into a barrel roll. He heard a girl scream. Turning upright he saw a blonde girl sprawled upon the ground.

Poppy.
