I looked at the ceiling as my mind tried to process all the thoughts that were crossing my mind. Reminiscing what happened a few minutes ago. Sam and I had our eyes locked on each other when fucking Karen showed up from nowhere. I sigh again reminiscing that moment, I swear that if she didn't show up we would still looking at each other eyes. Her eyes are so beautiful, not like mine. Mine are dull, but hers are so lively, so bright. I could get lost in there for hours and I would have if fucking Karen didn't show up. Urgh, I sigh again when a pillow hit me. "What the hell Karen?" I ask as I jump sitting on the bed.
"Stop sighing, you're getting me crazy!" She said with an angry face. "Now stop daydreaming and tell me what happened." I sighed again and another pillow blew to my face, but this time I avoided even if it was by a small margin.
"Okay, stop!" I said, raising my hands in surrender. "What do you want to know?"
"Well, start from the beginning. What happened after you went to the restroom?"
"The hell I know!" I yell without second thought. Then I regret it as I see the concern showing on her face. I sigh again before continuing. "I just know that they got me to the beach, and even that I don't remember it. I know it happened because Sam was there." I lay again on the bed and got comfortable before continuing my story as she started to approach to my bed. "After that she got me away from them, it seemed they were drunk and wanted to get laid." I continue with a shrug of my shoulders. "After that it seems I blacked out and when I waked up, she had breakfast ready," I say as a smile forms on my face and I look at Karen, "she made pancakes" I laugh as I continue "problem it's, she made too many!" Karen laughs with me, she is now seated on the side of my bed and looking at me. "I ate as much as I could and in the middle of that we talked, I saw your text so I texted you back and then you called, besides that not much else happened." I pretty much tell the story as I look at the ceiling trying to avoid Karen's knowing smirk.
"She accompanied you to the hotel." She says nonchalantly, but with a hint of a question in it. I sigh again before answering.
"She wanted to be sure that I got here safely, that's it." She looks at me with a face that says she doesn't believe me at all. However, before she can ask more questions I cut her off "She said that 2 miles wasn't close and that those guys may be still close so she didn't want to risk it."
"Well, I'm glad that at least she's smarter than you."
"Hey!" I say as I look at her, but I shut up when I see that she's angry. An angry Karen it's scary, you better ran from her and if I could I would already be miles away from her.
"Alice," she sighed "you know how worried I was? After you disappeared I looked everywhere and I told the rest to help me, but, they were drunk! And only two of them really helped and even so we didn't find you! You-"
"I'm sorry." I said, hugging her and stopping her rambling. "I'm really sorry. If I knew, I would have told you that I was fine. However, I was too drunk to remember to text you or call you. I'm really sorry Karen." She returned the hug as I started my rambling and she sighed when I finished. I know that I fucked it up, but it's not like I planned for it. I don't know those guys, I don't even remember them, it's all fuzzy. However, I know that I hurt my best friend and I have to apologize for that.
"Alice. I was really worried, if something happens to you I-"
"I'm fine." I told her, stopping her one more time and reassuring her that I'm fine, nothing happened, even if I have to thank Sam for that.
"So... Sam, huh?" She says teasing me. I groaned as I fell flat on the bed once again getting comfortable. She laughed and laid at my side getting comfortable too and propping her head up on her hand, looking at me from a higher level. I just groaned again and avoided her eyes locking them on the ceiling. "Are you not going to say something? Really? So... Does that mean that I can think whatever I want about what I saw earlier?" I looked at her too quickly and my damn head got a little dizzy again because of the quickness of my actions. I saw her smiling like a fool as she looked at my eyes. I groaned and avoided her one more time. "Come on, Alice. We both know that you're going to tell me eventually. Why are you trying to make things harder?" I huffed and looked at her again. I know that she was right, but I was confused. Sam was... amazing, for a lack of better words. She's- "Alice." She says as she caress my cheek with her free hand. "Just tell me, I mean it's obvious that you like her." At first, she was serious, but at the end of the sentence, her voice had a tint of amusement. I groan one more time before opening my big mouth.
"She- She's amazing." I sighed, I stopped looking at the ceiling, and focused my eyes on hers. "She's smart, strong, and beautiful and she's so comforting. She has some kind of let me alone aura." I chuckled "But she cares about the people; at least it seemed like that. I don't know, we barely talked really. I was the one talking most of the times. But, every time she spoke, she was serious, she didn't beat around the bush, she got straight to the point. Even if it was hard for her. I could see it, she didn't really want to talk, but she did. And that worries me."
"Why?" She asks with concern in her voice.
"Because she opened to me, or at least it seemed that way and now... I won't see her again." I sighed and I could see that she was worried about me. I groaned and looked at the ceiling again.
"Alice, you can see her again if you want."
"How?" I asked incredulously as I turned to look at her.
She sighed and said, as it was the most obvious answer. "Going to her house." She started to laugh, as I just stayed there shocked with my mouth hanged open. "Close your mouth Alice, it's creepy." I just glared at her, but I did as she said. She was enjoying this too much. She was still laughing so hard that tears started to fall from her eyes. I punched her on the arm, but she still continued laughing. "Damn it, Alice. I mean you just came from there. I thought that it was obvious." She says between laughs. I just continue watching her before starting to laugh myself at my silliness. After our moment, she looked at me and I knew she didn't end her interrogation. "So," She started as a smile formed on her face. "What happened earlier?" I groaned and it was as if our little fit of laughter never happened.
"I don't know what you mean. We were just talking." She looked at me with a face that said 'seriously?' I groaned but I replied as nonchalantly as I could. "Yep, seriously."
"Sure..." She didn't buy it. "You were looking at each other as if there wasn't a tomorrow. And you tell me that you were just talking..."
"We? She was looking at me in the same way?" When I finished asking her, I could see the amusement in her eyes and I knew that I fell on her trap. Damn it! She's good.
"Alice, seriously. I don't know why you're making that face. But is obvious that she also feels something for you." I tried to figure out if she was serious, I couldn't believe it. She was gorgeous while I was... plain. And not only that she hasn't really given me the feeling that she could be interested in me. "Stop thinking so much Alice." She stroked my hair as she tried to convince me how serious she was and that I was blind for not seeing what she saw.
"Stop it. I know what I saw, and even if I don't think she's interested I-I'll try." I said stuttering a little, damn that woman made me nervous. Cannot really blame myself for that, she's amazing.
"Sure... Well, as long as you try it, I won't say the obvious."
"The obvious?" I asked confused.
"Yep, that you know that I am right."
I huffed, but I started to think. Do I really know it? Nah, Karen is wrong. Ugh, I hate her. She's giving me hopes and if at the end it wasn't like that... I would be crushed. I groaned one more time, but no before being hit by a pillow on the face. I got tired of her so I retaliate hitting her with a pillow too, and just like that an epic pillow fight started.
