*Alice's POV*
"Alice, come on." I raise my head to look at my best friend, Karen. "The class already ended. Come on." She says once more time, making me realize that we are alone in class. Damn it, since Sam left 3 weeks ago, I've been zoning out a lot. I can't stop thinking about her. About the last time I saw her.
*Flashback*
"My dad works as a security guard in a pharmaceutical company. She met my mom there, she works there as a scientist. My dad told me that she forgot her badge at home, so they didn't let her enter, corporation regulations, my dad already knew that she worked there. He had been observing her, he was a total perv." I stopped as I laughed and I see her laughing too. "Point being, my dad started talking with her, telling her that if they let her pass they could get in trouble. At the end, my dad makes a call to one of the bosses, allowing her to pass. My mom told me that as a way to show her gratitude for all the trouble she gave him, she invited him to lunch. And somehow, they clicked." As I tell her this, I'm smiling like if I'm crazy, but she's also smiling so I just don't care. "They started dating not much later. Obviously, they married and had me, the most awesomest child in the world." I end the sentence winking at her and laughing. I see her laugh too and I swear that she blushed. Damn, it was too fast to be sure.
"Yes, that you are, you're a child." I try to look hurt at her words, but I'm so happy and laughing so hard that it is impossible. A few seconds later I see her frown and reaching for her pocket.
"Excuse me for a moment. I have to pick this call." Sam says as she slides her finger on the screen and putting the phone on her ear leaving the kitchen. I just watch her leave and sigh, why God hates me so much. We were having an amazing moment and they ruined it. I raise up from my chair and start cleaning all the dishes. There's only three plates, two forks and two glasses so I finish really quick. It seems that she already cleaned the rest, she's so thoughtful. I make my way to the living room where I see her with the phone on her ear. She seems flustered, I see her putting her phone again in her pocket as she runs her hand through her hair.
"Everything okay?" She turns so quickly that she scared me. Damn, I know that I didn't make my presence known. However, is it that bad to make her so shocked? Is she hiding something?
"Yeah, I just... I have to go home. Sorry." Sam says, apologizing. So, that was what the call was about. Damn it, she shouldn't have picked it up.
"I see." I say sadly. Fuck, why does she have to go? As I start to zone out, I see her approach me, and then I feel; I feel her hand on my cheek. What now? What is happening? I look at her eyes, and it scares me, no, you cannot do this to me, please.
"Alice-" She starts, but she can't, this cannot be happening.
"Don't." I say getting away from her. No, no, no. You cannot do this to me Sam. "Don't you dare."
"Alice-"
"Don't!" I'm mad at her, cannot she see that she's hurting me? I see her approach again and getting her hand again on my cheek.
"I'm sorry." As I hear her say that I know, I know that there's no way out. I have to hear it even if I don't want to. "My father doesn't..." I hear her sigh and I get the strength to look at her. She has her eyes closed, this is hurting her too, and that only makes me even sadder. She opens her eyes, and our eyes lock with each other as I feel her thumb caressing my cheek. It comforts me somewhat, but I know that it won't help much. "I need to talk to him. I don't know what will happen. However, if it goes well, I'll came here again, and I'll ask you something. Something that I've been dying to ask you for a while." As I hear her say this I know, I know that I won't see her again. She tries to smile, but I know that she's only trying to comfort me, and I can't. I can't stop the tears anymore. She tries to clean them as they fall, but she cannot stop them.
