There's this saying "There's no place like home" and this saying has never been more right
I woke up after my long sleep ,prayed and got breakfast which I'd consider a nice gesture from uncle jalal
I was so hungry I couldn't wait to eat
It was a typical English breakfast .
I gulped down my tea while thinking of everyone at home.
Well, I heard zainab and Zara are going to be around by next week.
even if i don't visit , they surely will .
And considering I need to explore I'll just be the good one and visit
Knock knock
"Who's it " i quickly replied as I heard the knock
"Fridaus, get ready by 3 I''ll be taking you to your school , I'll be going to settle Everything while you get ready "
Just great , I can see uncle jalal wants to go back to Nigeria, that's the only reason he won't allow me to sleep throughout today
I was planning to hear "get ready , I'm going to show you around "
"Okay ,bye , I will ".
I quickly said before he took my silence for "is she missing? "
With this , I heard footsteps retreating .
He's gone and I'm in a place I don't even know
What if i get kidnapped ? Or worse
What if the people here are cannibals
Poor ammi won't see me again
Ok sometimes I make myself laugh
Such stupid thoughts
I spent the entire time looking outside the streets, it looked so foreign, so beautiful ,people walking around minding their own business.
And oh people displaying public affection . I guess we are different
Now what if i went out to get some fresh air
"Miss , please are you new here ?" well that is an unnecessary question even for a receptionist
"Yes ,I'm . Is there a problem ?" I asked putting my serious face on
"No ,there isn't. Have a good day ma'am "
Now that's more like it
I simply nodded , smiled and left the lobby
Since when i decided to come out , I've been walking like a lost puppy and as tho I'm searching for the lost treasure of my life
I said people minded thier own business, but some have to look at me like my sole mission in life is to plant a bomb in Luton
I mean c'mon , let this girl walk in Luton streets in peace
Ah...a mall
Drip drip drip
It's about to rain, well I better head back
Just when i was about to turn
"Ow" ok I hit someone real hard
" I'm so sorry " I tried explaining while adjusting my glasses and it was .........a guy ? Who seemed chocolate in complexion and taller than I'm .
"Hey , no problem. I was also going through my phone, should have looked up " said the stranger I bumped into
" umm...yh, I was didn't see you coming .....I should get going "
I don't like awkward situations
" oh , well ..are you new around here ?"
"Yes , I'm " this man here doesn't seem to understand that I need to leave
"You're schooling here in luton ?" He asked , still wanting to inquire more
" no...yes..I mean not yet ,but i will "
Did I just act stupid in front of a stranger?
"That's great , I also am. But I'm in my final year now..I guess I'll see you around then "
"Final year ?..impressive, I'm in my first year and yes hopefully I'll see you around"
I hope uncle jalal hasn't returned while I'm having a moment with a complete stranger
