chapter 14

Firdaus's pov

After the incident of haneef leaving me and halima , halima has been blabbing on how we'd make perfect couples
Well not that that's what I'm worrying about right now
I have a speech to practice

"...........I wish you Good luck throughout your stay at Bedfordshire " i finally wrap my speech to halima as me practicing for tommorow

" firdaus, that was amazing " she says while stuffing her mouth with a large bite of pizza we ordered

"Are you sure you aren't mixing up how you feel for that pizza with my speech ?" I say while plopping on the bed
I'm so exhausted
Mentally and physically , this week has been something else

"No, God you were good " she says while she laughs and I just smile knowing her love for pizza

"I just hope i can do this tommorow " i say and yawn
I'm so exhausted

"Firdaus , you got this " she says with voice evident of sleepiness
And That's how i drifted too

Haneef's pov

So that what the firdaus halima has been talking about
The bratty girl that sat next to me in the plane

Ring ring ring

Now who is this calling me
Oh, its my personal assistant

" hello sir " he quickly said as I picked
"Good afternoon sir " he says again

" usman, Good afternoon " i reply back

" Sir , we seem to be having a problem with some transactions That took place last week . We just found today that some amount of money are missing from the transaction "

Money has been lost !

" and where is Maher ?" I quickly ask

" he hasn't been in office for the past 3 days sir "

He hasn't been in office ? I should have known he wasn't going to take care of everything while I was away

Maher is my cousin , we have been really close since our childhood and he's the only person I've trusted as a friend and a family member with helping me in running the company

But Maher Is reckless , he's done things that have caused loss to the company several times , I get furious and he promises he won't do it again

And now this is what he does again

"Usman, I'll handle everything, I'll be back very soon . Just handle everything well before I'm back "
I finally say before hanging up

Maher

Firdaus's pov

"And now we are going to call upon one of our honoured student . Firdaus Mohammed " The vice counsellor of the school spoke while it just occured to me it was my turn to give a speech too

Oh boy

I carefully stood up , walked up the stage and softly cleared my throat
And that's how i started

".............you might not know it yet or in the business of this day you might not be thinking about it yet ,but in this moment you are standing on the treshhold of the future of your dreams . I know ........"

I take a glance at the audience here and notice I was getting a very bad glare from haneef
Seriously...what's his deal ?
He should at least give me a break for today

"........I know this is what your friends ,family and other people told you , but dont roll your eyes at me ;its true " I chuckle a bit and the audience laugh a little but died off when i resumed talking

" on the first day of you being here , everything just seems so new , different , you found it hard to get back to your dorm . You didn't know how to register classes , where to eat lunch. But now you figured its all getting easy

I look up and smile a little as a sign of encouragement
And this time haneef had eyes attached to phone .Thank God

"I round up now with words of encouragement to you all, I wish you complete luck to your stay here , success awaits us " i round up feeling so relieved

And the whole audience breaks with a random clap

I then proceed to walk down the stage to my seat

Before i could sit, halima stood up to give me a hug looking so proud of me . Oh and I saw her tape me the whole time I was talking

"You really tried, you looked so confident " she said as I adjust on my seat with a full smile on my face while haneef acted as tho he didn't even see me walk past him to sit down
Well , typical him i guess

And that's how the speech ended
We left for pictures outdoors and lastly ate , we were starved by the end of the day

"Halima, since you're staying back at the dorm , I'll be heading back home now " haneef said looking so not interested in seeing me and halima catch up

"Oh , okay then . Till we talk " she says while looking at him and quickly looking at me too

What ? She wants me to give him a goodbye hug now ?

"Won't you say anything to her ?" She asked him , obviously reffering to me
" okay , bye firdaus " he spoke up which left me surprised , thought he wouldn't

He started walking and halted, turned and he had the look of him having second thoughts on what he was about to say but he finally spoke up

"And...you gave a wonderful speech today, I'm impressed. Have a wonderful day " he squeezes a tiny smile that leaves me more surprised

" Thank you " i say
More like a whisper because I couldn't believe it

" have a wonderful day too "
And with this he finally walked away , leaving halima looking at me with this smile . Oh I know what is coming my way

"I told you he'd come around " she said while laughing
