A few moments later, we were on the road back to my place. I tried to make friendly small talk with Jordan but it was utterly hopeless. He sat in the passenger's seat and with every attempt I made at trying to talk to him, his reply was his usual eye roll and him on his flip phone texting. The drive back to my place was mostly silent except for his occasional rude remarks about random pedestrians walking around. When we were at a stop light there was a young guy walking across the street.

"Eww, his dreads are so fucking gross looking", he said, making an ugly face.

I continued to sit behind the wheel adding no commentary to his nasty verbal jabs towards random people, but I was getting fed up.

"Oh my God, did you see her hair?", he said. I don't know what that is on her head but that is NOT cute.

"You know, looks aren't everything", I said.

"Girl, please", he replied. Are we even getting close to your house yet? You must live way out in the boonies somewhere around a bunch of hillbillies or some shit.

"Well, not everyone can afford to live in a shitty industrial neighborhood in a run down shotgun house", I replied, keeping my eyes straight ahead.

He kept his mouth shut the rest of the way to my place. Eventually we drove underneath a neon sign that read "Sunnydale Mobile Home Estate". I drove a few more blocks until we pulled up in the gravel driveway up to the pine green double wide. We both got out of the car and made our way up the wooden porch, Jordan right behind me. He had his eyes focused on the red welcome mat with yellow Chinese characters.

"Now, what is that suppose to say?", he asked, pointing to the mat.

"It means welcome", I said as I unlocked the screen door then the front door.

He followed me inside as I opened up the door.

"You live here by yourself?", he asked.

"No", I replied. You can sit down if you want.

Without saying a word, Jordan turned to look at the couch I pointed towards and grimaced a little.

"Um, that......doesn't look too clean", he said.
