It has now been two weeks and today was the evening for Nigel Compton High's Annual Talent Show. After Earl's encouragement and endless amounts of practice, I was willing and ready. While school was in session earlier today, I got a few stank looks and insults thrown my way from Jordan and his clique but I let it go in one ear and out of the other. Earl took me shopping and I was able to buy two new outfits. Earlier I came home, took another shower and put on one of my brand new outfits; a long brown denim maxi skirt that accentuated my hips and a form fitting long sleeved v-neck cream colored light sweater that was light and soft the touch. I had a white studded belt and a pair of black leather knee high lace up boots with three inch heels. I spritz a little bit of champagne and strawberry scented perfume between my boobs and a little on my wrist. I wore a silver pendant with a heart shaped charm around my neck. Earl bought it for me and it was the very first necklace that I have ever owned. I ran a fine toothed comb through my short auburn hair and made some side swept bangs and I put a rhinestone hair pin in my hair. I put on a light layer of concealer, along with some mascara and dark pink lipstick. Earl was able to come home from work early and now he was in the shower. I did a lot of practicing on the song I wrote with a bit of help. Ezekiel Owens wife Charlene records music in their small home studio in their basement, she's in charge of putting together gospel music albums for their church every year around the holiday season. Charlene and Ezekiel agreed to let me, Earl and his ex-blues buddies record my song in her studio. After we were recorded, she mixed the song and was able to take my vocals out so it would just be instrumental. On stage at my high school, I would just be singing along to the instrumentals. After much grief and practicing, I knew my lyrics by heart. Withing 30 minutes, Earl was ready and boy, he looked great. When he emerged from his bedroom, I could smell an intoxicating combination of his after shave and his Stormy Seas cologne. His face was clean shaven and he wore a black polo shirt underneath a dark blue blazer with a pair of dark blue denim jeans. Instead of his usual shoes or boots, he had on a pair of steel toed embroidered cowboy boots and the belt he had on had a big silver buckle. Since it was getting dark, he decided to leave his dark shades here. The show started in a hour so we had to get a move on.
"Damn baby, you lookin' so fine", he said, giving me a smile.
"Mm, you look good too, baby", I replied, looking at his with hungry eyes.
"Baby, you don't quit lookin' at me like dat, you gon' start sump'n", he replied, giving me a wink and taking a step closer.
"Well, I can't help it", I said, returning his smile and holding his face in my hands. You look so damn handsome.
I stepped even closer to him and gave him a quick peck on the lips, you know, a little tease.
"C'mon now, sweet cheeks", he said, giving my butt a little smack. You got's a talent show to perform at.
With that being said, out of the door we went. It was now mid January and the weather outside was chili and windy so I had on my black leather jacket. We decided to take Earl's El Camino because my gto needed a new part. Earl ordered it but it wouldn't be delivered until tomorrow. So therefor, I was without a car until sometime tomorrow. He held open the door for me as I climbed into the passenger's seat. We were on our way to the school and in my purse was the recorded instrumental on a CD that I would be singing along to.
