FRIDAY AFTERNOON...
DANE HELD UP a green sweatshirt with the simple white letters that spelled out, "I O W A" across the chest of it. She was only in the shop for thirty minutes, browsing the thrift store, Crowded Closet; finding things for herself even though her agenda was to find something for Brandon. The curly haired nineteen year old didn't think too hard about the sweatshirt once she came across it, since she knew Brandon would be grateful either way. Dane checked over the sweatshirt to make sure there were no stains, rips, etc before gently tossing it into her carriage. As she got to the end of the aisle, she paused to allow her eyes to run over the items in her cart.
For herself she had a pair of white chunky FILA sneakers, a extra-large stripped shirt, old clear non-prescriptive vintage glasses even though she barely used her own for reading, a polka dotted dress, highlighter cycling shorts that she'd probably never wear but knew someone would, some cheap jewelry and a bunch of other items that she didn't really need. Dane was on the move mentally counting the final total as she circled around to make her way to the front.
"Hey man, get ya hands off me! I know where the exit is." A familiar voice echoed throughout the large store.
Dane looked over her shoulder to see both Nick and Zion being escorted out of the store. However Nick had a colorful feather scarf wrapped around his neck, as he dribbled a basketball in between his legs. Zion, on the other hand was holding a wooden elephant and had a blond curly wig covering the root of his hair, although his dreads happened to peak out from underneath the wig.
Sighing Dane watched as the guard gave the two one last shove out the open front doors.
"That's why your knees are dry, real dry!" Zion yelled as he caught himself before he could tumble over his long legs, jolting his face forward at the guard while Nick hurled the basketball back into the store towards the man, who quickly dodged out of the way.
From there the two ran before the guard could chase after them. Dane carried on to the register smiling at the blonde-haired lady as she only placed Brandon's sweatshirt, her sneakers and jewelry on the counter.
"Those city slickers are somethin' aren't they?" The woman greeted as she shook her head, grabbing the items to scan them.
Dane nodded her head allowing her accent to slip out, "m'am, don't even get me started."
When the brown beauty caught up with her two friends, she gave them both a click of her tongue in disapproval at their actions. "Can't take you city slickers, nowhere!"
"City what?" Zion shook his dreads out after yanking off the wig then held it out to Dane, "hold that for me, mamas?"
Dane kissed her teeth, snatching the wig just to throw it out into the street which got ran over by a pickup truck ascending down the road.
