SOMETHING IN THE SKY should have warned Dane and the people of Iowa on how this day would go. On what was supposed to be a happy occasion turned for the worse and it was only a matter of time. Some may say time is an illusion, which should push you to enjoy it as much as possible, since tomorrow is never promised to anyone. Dane's main purpose was not to be at the same place that gave her anxiety, she came back to get away — not revisit heavy issues she struggled to get pass. See, Iowa would always be home but every home is filled with its own clutter.

So here she was sitting in her not-stolen rental after eight in the morning, spending over thirty minutes at the cemetery. And what a way to spend your morning when your thoughts ate at you in the wee hours of the day right? The thing is, she left before anyone woke up leaving a reassuring note on the kitchen table. She left home, heading into town to grab an unhealthy breakfast which consisted of Crescos (doughnuts) and Nibble Café's famous hashbrows with a bottle of OJ to go...as if Dane's health wasn't suffering enough from the fair. However people have different ways to cope with stress and eating was one of them for Dane.

She stuffed all those items down in the nic of time and currently drummed her fingertips against the steering wheel. Dejuan had gotten into her head again and encouraged her to "rejuvenate her spirit" by talking to someone who was very special to her.

That person being Kyle Magnano.

Dane didn't know if she truly believed in the whole talking to a headstone thing. She was also never that religious in the first place, meaning that she didn't follow a particular religion although her parents were heavily Baptist, along with her eldest brother Darryl, and then there was Dejuan who was on his own level...anyways the point is, Dane didn't know if Kyle was still there or even wanted her to be there.

Shit, she didn't know if Kyle made it to heaven or hell.

Dane alone faced death twice before, if you want to consider going through two losses facing it, then so be it. First her grandfather who she lost to pancreatic cancer when she was about eleven and then Kyle when she was eighteen.

The thing is, Dane always knew her grandfather was with her. She had the chance to talk to him before he crossed over, and that was painful enough. He made promises to her that she of course believed as a child and a part of her was still able to hold onto that child-like heart. She still wore one of his gold chains that he supposedly brought back from the Bahamas around her neck. The difference is, Kyle was already dead when she managed to open her eyes and she was stuck for over two hours laying beside his corpse. Yeah so shit was dark, rough, and conflicting.
