Chapter 7

With Katara and Zuko

They heard the whole conversation and walked out, acting as if they had heard nothing. Aang rushed up to Katara. "Hey. I need to talk to you two before someone else does." He told us, nodding towards Jet.

They both walked with Aang. He continued, "I know Zuko doesn't know Jet but he wants to start over and we thought we should let him. If he does something bad we will figure something else out."

"It is your choice Aang, you are the avatar after all." Katara said, Zuko stood behind her nodding his head, agreeing with her. "Hi my name is Katara. I heard you wanted to talk to me." The water bender said as she walked towards Jet.

"Hi Katara, my name is Jet. I want to apologize. A while ago I tricked to people into doing some work so I could wipe out a village that had some fire nation troops in it. Thankfully there was another person who figured out what I was doing and brought the village to safety. I believe I have changed. I am going to Omashu and was wondering if I could tag along with you guys, because I am assuming that is where you are going." Jet poured out everything. Everyone seemed to trust him, well everyone except Katara and Zuko.

Zuko stepped uncomfortably close to Katara and cleared his throat. It was effort to be noticed. "Hi, my name is Jet and I am guessing you heard my apology." Jet started the introductions, although he did feel a little uncomfortable with Zuko standing so close to Katara. 'He doesn't know it but I will fight for her, no matter what he thought. I would tell him but Katara is standing right there.' Thought Jet.

"Hi I am..." He cut his sentence short wondering if he should tell the truth or not.

Thankfully Katara elbowed him and said "Zuko loves to mess around, he knows who he is."

"Yes. I am Zuko and I am currently teaching the avatar fire bending." Zuko forced a smile and slung his arm on Katara's shoulders. 'Dang it. She trust him enough with my real name. At least she didn't add my full title.' He thought.

That night Zuko went over to talk to Jet privately. "Jet, I just wanted to tell you if you make one bad move and hurt anyone especially Katara then I won't hesitate to burn you to a crisp." He threatened but also implied his feelings for Katara. Or Zuko had hoped he did.

"I understand but I have known Katara longer and I will fight for her. This isn't over, and if you hurt anyone especially Katara. I won't hesitate to bring my blades on you." He successfully countered and walked towards Katara.

"Hi. You look tired. You should sleep, I'll take care of the dishes." He scooped her up and carried her bridal style to her tent. She was so tired she fell asleep in his arms, but to be fair he was walking incredibly slow. After dropping Katara off at her tent, and before the dishes Jet whispered to Zuko. "One point Jet and none for Zuko." At that point both decided to keep score. How this system was arranged was anyone's guess. Will Katara figure this out?
