"In California with my toes in the sand," he hummed, his body slowly swaying. I emerged from the corner I was hiding behind and smiled.
"Use the sleeves of my sweater," I sung. He turned around, a smirk playing on his lips. He approached me, intertw...

The car ride to school was quiet, to say the least. Usually, it would be Jackson and I bickering and Faith telling us to shut up so she doesn't crash the car. But due to our, as in me and Jacksons', "argument" neither of us spoke a word.
We pulled up into the parking lot and Jackson immediately got out, slamming the door behind it so hard that the vibrations carried into the car. I could see Faith looking at me through my peripheral vision.
"Something tells me you know something," Faith suggested as we stepped out. I looked at her with a hard smile and furrowed eyebrows.
"Clueless," I spat as if there was poison on my tongue. She sighed and ran her hands through her sandy-blonde hair, which mirrored Jacksons'.
She studied me for a moment before pulling me into a hug, "whatever Jackson may have said, don't take it personally."
Faith knows me all to well.
But the thing is how was I supposed to not? What he said was nothing but the truth and if I can't deal with it, it's only my fault. Only a months left of time and I try to keep telling myself that I can get through it. Just keep my head up high - but I find that ironic. Jackson is way taller than me and if I keep my head high, I'll just see him better.
So I guess I should keep my head high and low.
School was nothing less and nothing more. Jackson was ignoring me in Chemistry and I thought I was grateful for that but his comments made that class so much more amusing. I'd see him talking to Ryan, to which I'd approach him but he'd make some excuse to leave.
I leaned against the counter, replaying what happened last night over and over again. In all honesty, I have no idea why I'm so hung up about this. Jackson was barely a friend but his charisma was enough to want him to stick around.
Besides the fact he's professional eye candy, but that's not the point!
I let out a groan of frustration and quickly messaged Faith that I was going out.
There was a cafe, just a few minutes walk away. I quickly slipped on my running shoes before heading out the door. I caught a glance of Jackson sitting on one of the porch chairs, but he didn't bat an eyelash at the sight of me.
The way there was too familiar, I know it like the back of my hand. Head out the neighborhood, turn right but stay on the sidewalk, cross the road and boom! You're there. Not to mention, you were also at the beach.
The door was propped open, as after school is usually their busiest hours. The cafe was a pop of color itself, decorated with sea-themed furniture and all. The scent was a mix of the salty air of the beach and the fruity aroma of the juices they make.
