"You're gonna break your thumb if you keep punching like that," a voice said from behind me

"You're gonna break your thumb if you keep punching like that," a voice said from behind me. I let my arms fall to my sides and glared at the sand full sack. Footsteps started slowly towards my stance. "You have to untuck your thumbs."

"Jackson," I spoke with gritted teeth. "If I wanted your fucking advice, I would've asked."

He threw his hands up in surrender and backed away. "What are you doing here anyway? It's usually empty here."

"I don't see why anything I do concerns you anyway," I crossed my arms over my chest and headed in the direction of the exit. He lingered by my side and it made me consider two things - kiss the living daylights out of him or punch him so hard that his grandchildren feels it.

I shoved open the doors and drowned in the heavy breath of the skies. Jackson's presence was yet to retreat back into the gym, and instead he followed me out. The usual warmth that used to radiate off of the blonde boy was no where to be found in the cold midst of the night.

"I'm leaving in a week," he leaned against the door of the gym. I rolled my eyes.

"Okay," I dragged the 'y'. "Why does that interest me again?" The lies that rolled out of my mouth were unstoppable. They kept going and didn't consider the feelings of the specific person they were barreling towards. I mentally slapped myself to get a grip of my envy.

"Just though you'd like to know."

"Cool. Good night," I huffed and started my way home. A light grasp on my wrist held me back despite the gentleness of the touch. "Let go."

His hand around my wrist was refreshing and I wanted him to keep it there, but as I said - the lies continued to pop one by one. I wanted to tell him how I missed him around me but he was happy with Alana and I needed to drill that in my mind.

We stood in silence, disregarding the light water starting to trickle down from the sky. I fiddled with the hem of my shirt but continued the mutual stare between Jackson and I. "If you don't let go of my wrist right now -"

I was cut off by the embrace of two arms wrapping around my body. Jackson bent his head down to meet my shoulder as he brought his lips to my ear. I felt his softer than satin hair that brushed against my contrasting brown mane.

"I'm gonna miss you," his hushed voice sent shivers running through my body. Hesitantly, I wrapped my arms loosely around his neck. "I think I'm going to miss you the most."

I flinched at the words. My heart picked up countless beats that my mind couldn't keep up with. He rubbed circles with his thumb on my back which allowed me to melt in his hug a bit more comfortably.

He has no idea how much those words meant to me. It wasn't fair.

"Alana wouldn't be happy to hear that, would she?" I abruptly pulled away, instantly missing the contact right after. "Bye, Jackson."
