Chapter Five- Sparks fly
The rays of sun flowing through my curtains woke me up the next morning. It already felt like it was going to be a hot day, the air in my room was warm; instead of the freezing temperature it would be in New York at this time of January.
I flipped my covers off myself and walked towards the bathroom. I washed my face and brushed my teeth before I went downstairs to be greeted by the rest of my family who were eating breakfast together in the kitchen.
“Goodmorning!” I said cheerfully, suddenly remembering what Luke had said to me last night
“Morning Kota” Mum said as she gave me a kiss on the cheek and handed me a plate of pancakes.
“Goodmorning my little girl.” My dad said as he looked up from texting on his blackberry.
“Sup.” Matthew managed to utter those words while still shovelling pancakes into his blackhole of a mouth.
I sat down next to my dad and began to eat my pancakes, drinking a freshly squeezed glass of orange juice with it. I was nearly half way finishing my pancakes when I heard a ‘ding’ coming from my iPhone- indicating that I’d gotten a text. It was from Luke; I unlocked my iphone and read the text.
Hope you didn’t forget about tonight- I’ll pick you up at six!- Luke (:

I finished up my breakfast and decided to stay home for the day until I go out with Luke. I went back up to my room after watching the newest episode of ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ and began to continue putting away the rest of my belongings and making my room a lot more decorated.
I hung up photographs of friends, family and Channing Tatum….. on my big cork board that was hanging on the wall behind my bed, put all of my books and magazines on my bookshelf, put all of my toiletries away in my bathroom and organised my desk and drawers.
By the time I did all of that, had lunch, went on Tumblr and had a shower- it was already five o’clock, which meant Luke would be picking me up in an hour. Since I wanted to look my best- I started to get ready.
I went into my walk in wardrobe and looked through the racks and drawers of clothes, shoes and accessories. After about ten minutes of trying on outfits, not liking them and taking them off again, I decided on a dip-dyed maxi skirt, a white singlet and gold flip flops. I slightly curled my hair so I settled into waves and put it in a half up, half down style. Since Luke said that it would be casual, I only put on foundation and mascara with a dab of pink lipgloss.
Before I knew it- it was six o’clock and there was a loud knock at the door. Someone had already opened it before I got a chance to get downstairs.
“Oi Dakota- Luke’s here!” I head Matt yell from the front door
“Coming!” I grabbed my purse, phone and house key and walked briskly down the stairs.
As I approached the door, I saw Luke standing at there waiting for me in a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and a black t-shirt.
“Hey” He smiled at me and pulled me into a hug
“Hello!” I said as I hugged him back
“You look nice” Luke told me as we started to walk down my driveway; I blushed
“Well thanks” I smiled at the ground
“I really do mean it.” Luke stopped walking and just looked at me.
“You do?”
“Yeah, you’re beautiful Dakota” I smiled at the ground once more as Luke grabbed my hand and started running until we got to a small park.
I gasped as I looked around me. I remembered this park. It was the park where me, Jai, Luke, Beau, James and Daniel all met. I used to come here all the time with the boys and just run around and have a good time.
“You still remember this park?”
“Of course I do. It’s where I met the girl of my dreams.” My heart sank. Girl of his dreams? Who did he meet here besides me? And why hadn’t he told me about her until now?
“Oh really? And who is this girl?” I tried my best to put on a fake smile and looked at him.
I saw Luke bite his lip as if he was contemplating on doing something. The next thing I knew, his lips were on mine. It took me a while to comprehend that my best friend was kissing me, but none the less I kissed back. My arms made my way around his neck as he draped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer. It was in that moment that I felt fireworks in the pit of my stomach. I wanted this to happen for so long and now my wish finally came true.
“Get me with those green eyes, baby, as the lights go down, give me something that’ll haunt me when you’re not around, cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile.”
