Chapter Six- Crazier

We pulled away, breathless, just looking at each other for a little while- we both had a slight smile on our face. I tried my best to look calm on the outside, but my mind was running at a million kilometres per hour. So what did this kiss mean? Does Luke like me too or was he just seeing if there would be anything between us? What happens if we do date and break up? Will we go back to being friends or will we hate each other and never speak again? I was the first one to speak.

“So I’m going to go out on a whim where and assume that you were talking about me?” I squinted my eyes and raised my eyebrow; Luke chuckled softly

“I just wish I could have told you sooner.” Luke nervously rubbed the back of his neck

“Tell me what?”

“That I’ve liked you ever since we met in Kindergarten.” I was taken back, shocked that all this time we liked each other, but neither of us said or did anything.

“Wow” I simply stated, not really showing that much emotion, I was too busy taking in the moment and trying to make sense of it in my head. The guy that I liked actually liked me back. This crap just doesn’t happen so if I’m dreaming I swear I will fuck shit up.

“I knew I shouldn’t have told you- I’m sorry, we’ll just stay friends.” Luke looked disappointed from my lack of reaction and began to awkwardly walk in the other direction- back towards my house.

“Luke- wait!” I took a hold of his hand before he could walk any further.

“I was just shocked that’s all. I was going to tell you the same thing…I’ve liked you since we were little kids.”

Luke didn’t say anything, instead- he picked me up in his arms and hugged me for what seemed like forever. He let me down, still holding me around my waist. The sun was just setting, creating a blur of bright yellows, pinks and oranges in the sky.

“Will you be mine?” Luke asked while never breaking eye contact with me, I smiled widely

“I’d be honoured to.” I curtsied like they do in old movies as Luke began to laugh, while putting on a fake English accent as well

“Well in that case my lady, we shall go and celebrate with ice cream!” I laughed and agreed

We both started walking hand in hand down to the local ice creamery that wasn’t that far away- maybe a ten minute walk or so.

“You do a really shit English accent” I laughed as Luke pretended to be offended and began to fake cry while belting out ‘Nobody’s perfect’ by Hannah Montana as bystanders looked at us weirdly then went back to whatever they were doing.

We finally got to the shop and ordered our ice cream- I offered to pay for my own, but Luke insisted that he pay for me. He was always a stubborn little thing. Well not really little…he’s taller than my 5’3 frame.

Luke and I sat down at one of the outside tables and started eating and talking. I was so happy to finally be his, and I couldn’t keep the smile off my face. I’m pretty sure he felt the same way too because his facial expressions mirrored mine.

“Jai and Beau will be happy” Luke started

“Why?” I smiled, confused

“Because they’ve been bugging me to ask you out ever since we were ten before you left for New York”

“Seriously? Well I guess you should start listening to your older brothers more often!” I winked at Luke while he laughed.

We started talking about random topics just like we used to before until we were interrupted by two girls around the ages of 14.

“OMG Luke, can we please have a picture!” They both smiled, wide-eyed at Luke

I had completely forgotten that the Janoskians had really taken off and they had fans coming up to them wherever they went. Which reminded me- I hadn’t seen James or Skip yet…

“Sure, hold on girls” Luke put his finished ice cream cone in the bin and stood up

“Um, can you take the photo?” One of the girls looked at me with a mean expression on her face and shoved the camera in my hands

“Okay..” I slowly stood up and snapped the photo of Luke and the two fans

“Thanks.” The same girl snatched the camera back out of my hands and started talking to Luke again

“So are you single still?” The girl said, slightly glaring at me out of the corner of her eye

“Not exactly” Luke looked uncomfortable with the girls asking about his private life and he looked towards me and smiled softly.

“Well isn’t that a shame.” The other girl replied hastily

“No it’s not- I’m very happy.” Luke defended me; the girls looked taken back at the sudden defensiveness of Luke.

“If you’re happy, we’re happy!” The two girls put on the fakest smiles I’ve ever seen, and said their goodbyes. Luke sat back down at the table with me.

“They seemed like lovely people.” I said sarcastically as Luke sighed

“Most of them are really nice, I guess we just got the minority that aren’t- I’m sorry” Luke looked at me sincerely- apologising for the way those girls treated me

“It’s fine, seriously! Don’t worry about it- I get the whole fangirl thing” Luke smiled at me, not expecting me to be so laid back about it.

“I’m glad you’re not overreacting like the other people I’ve gone out with. Let’s get back home- it’s getting dark.”

Once again, Luke and I walked hand in hand back to my house. On the way I just couldn’t stop thinking about how lucky I was. I feel like something is finally going right in my life. After suffering for so long- it was a nice change to be blissfully happy for once. I looked into Luke’s eyes while we were walking and smiled; a smile in which he returned immediately and pulled me into his side, hugging me slightly. It felt so crazy to me, to have the one I’ve always wanted.

“Feels like I’m falling and I’m lost in your eyes, you make me crazier.”
