14: Cover story

Brooklyn's POV:

Mikey took me to the hospital and it turns out I managed to dislocate my index finger and fracture my wrists.

But my hand is the least of my worries at the moment. I only care about Jack and Mikey and how much I have messed up. He already hates me but when he finds out what happened he's never gonna speak to me again. How could I be so foolish. Is what happened a sign that I like Mikey or am I being stupid? Do I have feelings for him?

"Hey you alright?" Might asked bringing back into reality.

"What...err yeah I'm good..." I muttered looking down.

He came over and out an arm around me.

"It's gonna be okay Brook... we're gonna fix this." He said sounding as though he didn't believe the words coming out of his moth but determined non the less.

"What are we gonna do Mikey? What are we gonna say? Jack will never forgive me...how could I be so selfish...so careless..." I cried hugging into his shoulder.

He sat there for a few minutes just comforting me. "Our cover story will be that we went a walk because you and jack had a fight. It was raining and you slipped down a hill hitting your hand. I took you to the hospital and then we came home. Okay?" He said sternly.

I looked up and just nodded. Agreeing to stick with the story.

"If you need to tell Jack the truth then you can I understand but when your ready." He said reassuringly.

"Thanks Mikey" I half smiled.

We walked in the door to the flat and Jack was back in his bed and Andy and Rye were back from the gym. They were all sitting in the living room when we walked in.

Stunned Andy shot up and came to aid my hand the second he saw it.
"What the hell happened to you?!"

Mikey began to tell the 'cover story' and Rye and Andy actually seemed to have bought it. Jack on the other hand was still unsure as the weather to trust or believe what either of us said ever again. Though he may not have believed us he still looked very concerned at the sight of my bandaged arm.

I couldn't even make eye contact with him. I was too ashamed of myself. Too ashamed of what I had done.

Because of the events of the previous few days there was a lot of tension in the household. Andy and Rye where the only two who were still talking and for ones not involved in any drama but they were still fed up of the drama and arguing that was going on around them.
They decided they would go out for dinner to escape the awkward surroundings leaving me with Mikey and Jack again.

Mikey has decided to go in the shower so it was just the two of us. Jack and I.

I was on my phone when I say jack sit up from the side of my eye.
"So what really happened then?" He questioned.

"What do you mean?" I asked still not making eye contact.

"When you went a walk with Mikey and you 'fell'... what really happened?" He question

"I told yous already" I said playing along with the story.

"And what's the truth?" He asked more sternly.

"That is the truth jack!" I snapped looking over at him.
I hated lying to him but I can't tell him the truth not yet anyway.

He shook his head and was about the walk out the room but I grabbed his hand and pulled him close to me.
"Jack please... I can't lose you"

"No Brooklyn just don't! I'm so fed up with people using me! I'm sorry I can't do this anymore... we're over..." he said struggling to spit out the last few words.

His eyes were watery and red and at the last word that left his mouth a tear fell from my eye. I can't believe he just broke up with me. I was so hurt. So lost. So broken. So angry with myself. I just lost the love of my life.

"Jack wait please!..I need you" I cried as he slipped out of my grip.

"I'm sorry Brooklyn..." he said now crying as well.

I just stood there in disbelief as to what was happening.

"Guess what you were right!" I screamed as he walked away.

He quickly turned around to face me.

"Something did happen between Mikey and I!" I cried and screamed at the same time.

"What do you me-"he started.

I cut him off.
"I kissed him! And I liked it!" I stood there frozen to the spot as did he.

I saw a tear leave his eye as he turned around ones more and ran out the door.
