⚠️EXTRA LONG CHAPTER, extra tea⚠️
Adora
I smiled as I rolled on top of Santiago, my lips moving against his.
I moved my hand over to the alarm clock for the thousandth time, pressing the snooze button. I pressed my lips back against his, his hands grasping my hips.
"Baby," he muttered against my lips, "you've hit the snooze buttons more times than I can count."
I giggled and plunged my fingers in his hair, pulling his bottom lip in my mouth. "It's fine. You always set your alarm early."
He pulled away, smiling up at me. "Seriously, I think we need to start getting r-"
He froze as he looked down at his phone, his eyes dilating.
"Shit," he mumbled, "have we seriously been making out for a solid hour?"
My eyes dilated as well, making us both dart up. Before we could realize it our heads clashed together, making me slap a hand over my forehead.
He grasped my face, making me giggle.
"It's not funny," he said, "are you okay?"
"Relax," I said, smiling, "I'm fine."
"I'm going to go run some shower water. Perfect day to save time and water. Love helping the environment," he yelled as he ran into the bathroom, making me laugh. I stood up from the bed and looked in the mirror, seeing a red spot on my forehead.
It'll go away.
I walked into the bathroom and jumped when I saw him standing stark naked in front of the shower, my eyebrows shooting up as I smiled.
He looked over at me dumbfoundedly. "Morning wood. Ever heard of it?"
I laughed and quickly stripped myself of my clothes, hopping in the shower with him. He occupied one shower head while I occupied the other, the waterfall shower head beating down on both of us.
"So what's the rush?" I asked, "aren't you your own boss?"
"Yes, but I have a very important meeting to attend at nine."
I just pursed my lips together and stood under the shower head. "Oh."
"Have we taken a shower together before?" He asked, looking over his shoulder at me.
"Yes, Santiago," I answered, "remember that one time, three months ago?"
He just snapped his fingers. "Right. I'm getting old, sorry."
I giggled and lathered up my body in soap, jumping when I felt two large hands on my backside.
"Santiago, we're running out of time," I sang.
"Three seconds just to feel you up, that's all I needed."
I laughed and rinsed off my body, my hair left to air dry since it wasn't dirty but still got drenched by the water.
We were both soon enough in our closet, towels wrapped around us sloppily.
"Pick a color," he said, going through all of his shirts.
"Uh," I muttered as I looked through all of my business outfits, "I don't know, purple."
"Okay, pick another color," he said.
I giggled. "Go with black, you look hot in all black."
I quickly changed into a pair of lace underwear, slipping on the matching brazier to go with it. I went with a white pantsuit, and we revealed ourselves to eachother, sighing.
"You look hot," he mumbled, pressing a chaste kiss to my cheek.
I laughed and slipped into a pair of heels, watching as he ran around like a chicken with its head cut off.
"Ugh," he groaned, "where is my briefcase?"
I held it up and he turned around, shooting me a smile.
"I'll see you later today, okay?"
He pressed a kiss to my lips, making me smile and follow him downstairs.
"Bye, baby," he said, smiling as he grabbed his coat.
I smiled and watched as the door closed behind him, my eyes fixated on the elaborate door.
"I love you," I whispered to myself, grabbing my bag before exiting the house myself.

"A love poem," I said, my eyebrows raised as I looked down at John.
He nodded up at me. "You have experience in that department, don't you?"
He turned around in his chair and began to type something out, making me look down at the piece of paper in my hands.
"Don't you?" He asked, looking over his shoulder at me.
I just smiled and nodded, my eyebrows raised. "Most definitely."
I sighed and sat down in my chair, resting my head in my hand.
A few minutes of staring into the paper and I got nowhere, so I let out an aggravated sigh.
"You said I can talk to you about anything."
John just looked up at me, his eyebrows furrowed together. "Come again?"
"Back when you hired me," I said, "you said I could talk to you about anything."
"Is that how it came out?" He asked, furrowed brows.
I rolled my eyes. "Seriously, John."
He chuckled. "I'm kidding."
He rolled around his desk in his chair, hands folded over his abdomen. "What do you need to talk to me about?"
I knew it probably wasn't wise to be sharing this with John but I didn't care, I needed it off of my chest.
"Have you ever felt something so deep for someone?"
He furrowed his brows together and nodded slowly. "I've had my moments, yes."
"Have you ever felt like they feel it," I said, sighing, "but not nearly as much as you do?"
He pursed his lips together. "I, uh, I d- I don't know."
I nodded, looking over at the window.
"It sucks," I said, "just so you know."
He flexed his jaw muscle. "Is this about Santiago?"
I looked over at him and sighed, nodding slowly. "Yeah, it is."
He looked at me for a second and then smiled, looking down. "You know, I might be wrong, but I know he feels something for you."
"I know he does, too," I said, "it's just not what I feel, I don't think."
He didn't say anything, but I could tell he was urging me on.
"I told him," I said, "I told him I loved him, and his response was that he had a very deep regard for me. I don't know, he's said that for five years."
He folded his arms over his chest.
"I don't know, doesn't that change?" I asked, shaking my head as I raked my fingers through my hair.
"Yeah, but Adds, you've got to understand that that man is carrying a lot of baggage."
"I do understand that," I said, nodding, "I absolutely do. I was there, I know what happened."
He just sighed, his elbows braced on his thighs. "So you're telling me," he said, "not through words, but that you're willing to carry all that baggage he has for three words?"
I cocked my head over, shaking my head. "You haven't really loved anyone, have you?"
He shrugged, leaning back in his chair. "Maybe it's different for everyone. I just don't want you being disappointed."
I pursed my lips together and looked out the window. "Yeah, me either."

Santiago
I smiled as Adora pulled the blankets up to her neck, her head in her hand as she watched me slip into a white t-shirt.
"You're a very timeless man, Santiago King," she whispered as I crawled in bed beside her, making me smile and lean down to press a kiss to her lips.
She cuddled up to me and sighed, pressing a kiss to my chest. We sat in a silence for a few minutes before she piped up.
"I know this bed wasn't occupied by one person for five years," she said, intertwining our fingers, "I know you were occupied."
I sighed and nodded. "I mean, yeah, one night stands, a fling, that's about it."
"A fling?" She asked, an eyebrow cocked up at me with a smile.
I sighed and nodded.
"Well," she said, "with who?"
I looked down at her. "My assistant. Ex-assistant, if you will."
Her eyebrows went into a deep furrow. "The one that just left?"
I nodded down at her. "Yeah, Catherine."
She sat up and looked at me, her eyebrows still in a deep furrow.
"How long ago was it?" She asked.
I shrugged. "Not long after you left for college."
"How long did it go on?" She asked.
I could tell she was a bit more curious than usual.
"It went on for a while," I said, sitting up, "it stopped a few years ago."
She just nodded slowly. "So you didn't fire her when you two broke things off?"
I rubbed my eyes. "I gave her a choice. Stay or go, and I wasn't going to fire her, because she has bills to pay, too. She stayed, because she thought she could keep her distance."
She just smiled and nodded. "So that's why she was the way she was with me."
I furrowed my brows together. "What do you mean?"
She stood up. "You're easy to fall for, Santiago," she said, "I know that wasn't just a fling to her."
"No," I said, "no, we absolutely agreed on it being just a fling and nothing else."
She nodded. "You're also easy to fall in love with."
I just looked up at her, a blank expression on my face.
"Did you love her?" She asked, her fingers tracing circles on the bed.
"No," I said, shaking my head as I closed my eyes, "no, it was nowhere near that. Sure, I cared for her in the slightest but it never got to what me and you had. Or have."
"But that's all it is for me," she said, "you only care for me."
"That's not true," I responded, shaking my head.
"Well that's what you tell me, at least," she said.
I just looked up at her and sighed, furrowing my brows together. "Are we on the love topic?"
"Yeah, in fact, we are," she said.
"Baby," I said, standing up, "you know what I feel for you-"
"Really, I don't," she said, shaking her head, "all you've ever said is, oh, I have a deep regard for you. What the hell does that even mean-"
I grasped her face with a smile. "Did I hit you a little too hard this morning-"
"It's not funny, Santiago," she said, pushing my hands away from her face, "it's not funny."
I furrowed my brows together down at her, my smile falling off of my face. "You said you were waiting on me."
"Yeah, I am," she answered, "I've been waiting on you. I can only wait for so long, Santiago."
I could see the tears in her eyes, my eyebrows going into an even deeper furrow.
"I'm sorry I'm not willing to just pick back up and act like five years didn't pass," I said, "like you didn't get engaged-"
"Like you didn't have a fling with your assistant that you just fired?" She asked.
"She has nothing to do with this," I said, shaking my head.
"Yes she does, Santiago," she said, "you just let her go and we've been together for three months."
"Okay, the last time we did anything was when I went to my office drunk and she gave me a blowjob the night after the dinner-"
"Thanks so much for the reassurance that there's nothing there!" She yelled, scoffing. She brushed her hair back with her fingers and I followed her into the closet, my eyebrows furrowed together.
"Is this really about love?" I asked, shaking my head.
"Yeah, it is," she said, "Santiago, I've been waiting on you! You told me wait, I did, and I'm getting impatient. I can see myself with you in the future, when I'm old, when the boys are grown, us having a kid of our own-"
"But can't we just not rush into it?" I asked, grasping her face, "can't we just roll with it?"
She shook her head slowly, a single tear falling from her eye.
She pulled away from me and grabbed a suitcase, making my eyes widen.
"Woah, why the hell are you grabbing a suitcase?" I asked.
"I think you need some time to think," she said, shaking her head as she threw the suitcase on the bed.
She grabbed random articles of clothing, throwing them into the suitcase. I just watched, still not entirely registering what exactly was going on.
"I'm sorry," I said.
"You're sorry for what?" She asked, "having baggage? Santiago, I have that, too, I can carry yours."
"I don't want you to have to carry any of my baggage," I said, "trust me, it's a lot."
She just sighed, looking over at me. "You just won't give in, will you?"
I furrowed my brows together.
"I'm sorry I'm not Derek," I blurted, making her eyes dart over to me.
"Don't mention him, he has nothing to do with this."
"Just like Catherine has nothing to do with this," I said, "at least she's not my ex-fiancé, and still here. At least I wasn't using her to get closer to you."
I took a few steps towards her, her eyes welling up with tears.
"I'm not going to hurt you," she whispered, "I'm not Alessandra."
I just flexed my jaw muscle down at her.
"Is it really going to take me packing up a bag and leaving for you to realize what you feel for me?"
"Is that what you want?" I yelled, "do you just want me to say it?"
"I don't want you to say it because I want you to say it!" She yelled, "I want you to say it because you mean it. Because you can see me in your future, because you can see me being the mother of your damn child!"
"Wait," I said, furrowed brows, "are you pregnant?"
"No, I'm not pregnant, Santiago!" She whimpered, "can't you see the bigger picture? You need time."
"So what?" I asked, "I can't have time with you here?"
"No," she said, "because if I'm here, you'll get sidetracked because I distract you. You admitted it. I distract you."
"Adora-"
"I'm going to leave, Santiago," she whispered.
"And you're going to come back," I said, my voice on the verge of cracking.
She just let out a shaky breath, her eyes welled up with tears. "Goodbye, Santiago."
And I realized there was absolutely nothing I could do to change her mind.
