The Horrendous Humans

The human race

Those who roam the earth

And call it their own place

The possessive bastards

Who cheat, lie and steal

With the mask of security

Whose smile

Is always faked

Hiding insanity inside

Each human passing by

Every single on coming near

Hides a horrendous lie

The gluttony

The lust

The greed

Those who are amused

Who play life as a game

And laugh at those who lose

I wonder what we could be

What we should be

As I choke on my own lie

Why are we not animals?

A mystery to most

It’s because we’re monsters

The shadows under the bed

The skeletons in the closet

That make kids cry all night

For we have the freedom

The choice

Yet we turn away grinning

Pity those who are strong

Those who are kind

And forgiving

For they live in a world of masks

No one is who they seem

And no one is true

Those who break

Are the ones who find truth

And can no longer live a lie

Those who cope

Silently go insane

At the knowledge of truth

Those who kill

Both hope and humanity

Have nothing left to lose

The lie is the strength

To cover up the organs

Of a hollow shell

The strength which is true

Is the weakness

We decide to use

What is a human?

A monster with no salvation

Given the chance one more time

What would we be

If we weren’t so gross

And if we were kind

And once we’re gone for good

The world continues

Just like it should

Can't even remember where this came from. But I hope you enjoyed it!

What is your favorite/most relatable poem from this book to date?

Since I still have like, no Wi-Fi, the next poem will be on a Monday or Tuesday. I can't promise another one this Sunday since I didn't prepare enough on my Docs sheet to just copy-paste.

Seriously sorry,
Marium
