You are that fly
Small and insignificant
Fame is that lamp
Bright and attractiveNo matter what it takes
You'll attain that light
But I must ask why?
For you can already flyYes you are one of many
Yes others may ignore you
And once you attain that light?
Nothing will changeYou'll burn your wings
Your pride and gifts
You'll be zapped many times
Yet you stay near the lightThe lamp will go off one day
They'll replace it with another
And what will be left of you?
A corpse, a shellBut you're still a fly
Persistent and annoying
Your new goal?
Death, or that lampYou'll walk around
Deprived of your own wings
You'll make friends with a mosquito
A blood-sucking fiendAfter an adventure
Completed with loss
You've realized you've been played
The mosquito's the bossYet you do nothing for your name
You need to reach that light
For shame, for shame
But at least you fightYou've found a new lamp
Yet the process is old
What happens next in your hole?
Just press repeat---
Cheerios! (Pretend like I have a British accent)
So what's the story? Well, if you're interested, read on!
My mother has a slight hatred, well, we don't hate (according to my mother), so she has this strong dislike for actors, singers, YouTube sensations, and basically popular people in general. Why? Because they always start off good people, people of the community who generally care, "But the moment they became popular, they lose themselves in the attention."
And like any other normal daughter, my mother's opinion is important. So I was in this fixed trance/daze where I could only see the screwed-up things actors did. I started to remember how kind they were and then how much drama they elevated. And this poem was the result.
But, just so you're aware, I know that they're human. But they made the conscious decision to put themselves in the spotlight. They decided to put themselves under scrutiny. They're aware everyone will hate on them the moment they make a mistake. I really don't understand why attention is worth the drama and the risk, but I'm not them so I guess I'll never understand.

Author's Note (YAY!!!)
*whispers*: oh geez, kill me now
So yes! Those little things at the end are part of the book, just not the poem!
I feel like I haven't read much poetry on Wattpad, anyone have any suggestions?
I'm hoping to get to know a couple of authors to see they're point of view. I'm fairly new to poetry and getting my stuff out there is stressful and I just feel like I should get into writing everyday. I already have like 10 poems in cue. (ok, thinking about that, that's not much) But those things take forever! Since summer is a few weeks away, I'm hoping to get a boost in chapters.
