2. Accident with the boss

Hello Fam. :)

There was a slight confusion regarding the last chapter. Nandu is the boss or the joint CEO, Manik her assistant or PA, whatever you call it. And they both are working in Malhotra Industries. Raj is another CEO of Malhotra Industries. Rest of the doubts will be answered as the story progresses.

Someone barges into Manik's cabin seeing whom Manik grins widely.

Person(fumed): Saale. I already had my lunch. Why did you message me to ask her for lunch?

Manik(flashing his teeth): Cabir. Bhai. Thanks for not using your brains there and simply doing whatever I told you.

Cabir(settling on the chair comfortably): Haan woh theek hai. But what's up with this lunch program?

Manik(teased): When did you start bothering about extra food?

Cabir(curiously): I am not bothering about extra food. But I need my answers. why?

Manik(sighs sadly): Nandini didn't have her lunch. Subah bhi breakfast theek se nahi ki. She is stressed up for something which I don't have any idea about. And she won't deny eating if it's professional.

Cabir(smiled): Bada smart ban raha hai tu. Manik, can I ask you something?

Manik(without any expression): Cabir, I know what you want to ask. And you know my answer too.

Cabir(grimaced): Yaar, aur kitne din? She doesn't even acknowledge your efforts.

Manik(leaning back in his chair): I am not expecting anything from her, Cabir. I just want her to be happy.

Cabir(concernedly): Bhai. I don't know. I just don't want you to get hurt at the end.

Manik just smiles. Meanwhile, he gets a call that the lunch is ready.

Lunchroom (A/N - I don't know if it's there in offices or not. Imagine some place where they sit and eat)

Cabir goes and shakes hands with Raj but Raj didn't miss the smirk on his face.

Cabir(smirked): Good to see you, Mr. Malhotra.

Raj(slapping his head lightly): Mr. Malhotra ke bache. Kya ye pheeka pheeka haath mila raha hai. Aa gale lag.

Cabir gives him a hug while Nandu glares at Raj for being unprofessional.

Raj(pouts): Tu ghoor mat, princess. Cabir ke saath mein formality nahi karta. Tu bhi mat rakh. Waise bhi we are not in a meeting.

Nandu nods in disbelief.

Manik(excited): Can we eat, please? I am damn hungry.

Raj(scolded): When are you not hungry? We are talking aur tujhe beech mein bolna hota hai.

Manik makes a grumpy face. They all ignore him. Raj was about to sit beside him when he stops.

Manik(declared): Mujhe aapke paas nahi baithna. Main apni boss ke saath baithunga. At least woh mujhe har baat par danththi nahi hai.

Raj(whined): Princess, tu ise danththi kyun nahi hai. Ache se daant na.

Nandu(sternly): Uncle.

Raj(meekly): ok.

Raj goes and sits beside Cabir and Nandu beside Manik. Nandu sees that Raj's plate wasn't there.

Nandu(frowned in confusion): Uncle, aap lunch nahi karoge?

Raj(explained): I had my lunch. I just came here to meet Cabir. Aur yeh bhi koi lunch karne ka time hai kya? Teen bhajne ko hai. Kis gadhe a idea hai ab lunch rakhne ka?

Nandu looks at Cabir while Cabir mutters some harmless abuses for Manik under her breath.

Raj(scolded): Iska idea tha? Pata tha mujhe. Isko bas har time khana chahiye hota hai.

Cabir gives a sheepish grin to Raj while glaring at Manik who was sneakily busy putting extra food in Nandu's plate. Cabir who had eaten an hour and half back was playing with food and was thinking about how to escape. Here, Nandu too was thinking of ways to escape her lunch as she wasn't feeling hungry which was noticed by Manik.

Raj(casually): Tujhe khane ke saath khelna hi tha then why did you agree for this lunch.

Both Cabir and Nandu snapped their heads towards Raj. Nandu breathe a sigh of relief when she realized he was talking to Cabir. She started putting food in her mouth taking unusually smaller bites and long gaps between each bite.

Raj(informed): Princess, main Paris ja raha hun aaj. You didn't forget, right?

Nandu nods in a no.

Manik(whined): Aapne mujhe nahi bataya. Do you even realize, I am your son?

Raj(glared): Saath hi mein bataya tha dono ko. Tera dhyan nahi tha, I can't help it. Princess, tomorrow is a Sunday and I might be coming by Tuesday or so. You will handle Monday's meeting, right?

Nandu again nods in yes. Meanwhile, she gets a call and making it an excuse, she leaves saying she's done with eating. Raj too leaves from there. As soon as they leave, Cabir puts his spoon down and was about to pounce on Manik who was having his food.

Manik(concentrating on the food): Don't try to kill me, let me complete my lunch first.

Cabir(nodding his head in disbelief): Saale, tujhe khana tha. Main phas gaya beech mein.

Manik grins and then continues.

Manik(sadly): dekha nahi tune, kaise uthkar chali gayi? I don't know what's wrong with her. Agar thoda force kiya, I am afraid she will shut me out too.

Cabir puts a hand on his shoulder. To lighten up the situation, he asks.

Cabir: Waise, tu excited hai na?

Manik(puzzled): for what?

Cabir(smirked): Uncle ja rahe hai. Tu aur Nandu akele honge. Maybe baarish hogi and then some cosy cosy moments.

Manik(glared): Cabir, shut up. Apne yeh dimag chalana bandh kar. This is not the first time when we are alone.

They leave after Manik completing his food. On the way to his cabin, Manik bumps into someone and holds her from falling down by her waist. He straightens her and gets froze seeing Nandini there who was busy removing his hand that's still on her waist. Cabir was equally shocked so were some of the employees who were working there. Everyone was gaping at them and was busy praying for Manik as they know their 'khadoos' boss doesn't think twice to fire them or give punishments. Getting herself freed from his hold, Nandu looks at everyone and shouts.

Nandu(sternly): Is any drama going on here? Cabir?

Everyone composes themselves.

Cabir(tried hard not to stutter): I was just going back. Actually, Navya has asked you to say hello.

Nandu(softly): How is she? I will call her in the evening.

Cabir nods. Nandu turns towards Manik.

Nandu(gritting her teeth): And you? Come to my cabin, right now.

She storms from there.

Cabir(patting his shoulder): Bhai. Shaam mein milte hai agar tu zinda hai toh.

Manik(scared): I don't think so. Phir bhi ek baar check kar lena. Agar main mar jaunga toh tere bachhe ko mera naam rakhna.

Cabir(yelled): tere marne ke chances jyada ho rahe hai Manik. Run.

Manik realizes this and runs off to her cabin while Cabir leaves from there.

Here, Manik knocks on her door and enters after taking permission. He gulps his saliva seeing her sitting calmly because he knows she is anything but calm.
