Nandu's room

After having dinner, as usual, Nandu couldn't sleep. She tried working on her files but couldn't concentrate. Things were making her suffocated. She checked up on Manik and found him sleeping. She went to the terrace and cried for a long time before retiring to her room not before checking her surroundings. Being tired of constant crying, she slept.

Sunday passed away quickly with Nandini and Manik working on the conference that is on Monday. Nandu was only giving him instructions or asking him for corrections. Though Manik could see that she is anything but ok, he didn't question her being afraid of getting pushed away like last night. He thought it's better to be around her and stay silent than staying away and being worried.

Monday

The conference was to give a brief introduction by Mr. Thakkar for his chain of restaurants that he wanted to open across the globe. There was a number of participants who were prepared to present their initial set of ideas. The seating arrangements were like people representing Malhotra and Dhawan industries are on one table, Vedants and Saxena's on one, Vardhan's and some other company on another table. Rest all were seated in their respective places.

As soon as Nandini saw Cabir from Dhawan industry, she sighed. Manik grinned looking at Cabir.

Cabir(cheekily): Good morning Miss. Murthy and Mr. Malhotra.

Manik, Nandu(smiled): Morning Mr. Dhawan.

Manik was about to sit beside Cabir but Nandu stopped him.

Nandu(frowned): Manik sit here. (Pointing towards the side such that she sits between Manik and Cabir)

Manik(pouts): Why?

Nandu(smiled sarcastically): Because this meeting is important for me. And I want you to concentrate on it and if you both sit together, you will concentrate on anything but the meeting.

Manik and Cabir make a bad face.

Manik(whined): Nandu, meeting bahut boring hogi.

Nandu(rolling her eyes): Shut up.

As Mr. Thakkar entered the hall, everyone settled in their places.

Mr. Thakkar: A very good morning everyone. I am keeping my speech short so that you people won't sleep by the end. Kidding. You already know why you are present here so, I am not repeating the things. There are slight changes in the plan mentioned in the notice. As I can see there so young people here, I want my son here to take the lead in this project. He will explain to you the changes too. Abhimanyu, can we have you here.

Abhimanyu: Good morning everyone. I am happy that I have to work with this young bunch of people. Instead of, I don't want to say, because my dad's here too. *chuckles*. The main change in the plan is, as it is a huge project, we want to have collaborations. Two or three companies can merge together for this project and present their ideas. You people can decide with whom you want to work. Mail us the names of companies that are in the group within two days. And you can share your ideas next week. The date will be informed to you through emails. Now, a small presentation on our requirements.

After half an hour of presenting the points, the presentation came to end.

Abhi(smiles): So, these are the requirements. I hope it's clear. If there is any doubt you can please talk to any of us. Let's end this meeting with some drinks. Thank you all.

He left the stage and everyone gathered to discuss the groups.

Nandu(raising an eyebrow): Have you noted down the points?

Manik(grins): I have recorded everything.

Nandu(mocked): very smart.

Cabir(in a professional tone): Malhotra, send me a copy of whatever you have recorded.

Nandu(smiled sarcastically): And what exactly were you doing?

Cabir(grinned): I was saving energy.

Nandu(puzzled): saving your energy?

Cabir(stated): No. Environments energy. I am part of the environment.

Nandu(disbelievingly): Can you ever be serious, Cabir?

Cabir(with a serious face): I don't think so. I have tried actually. Lekin ek ghante se jyada nahi reh paya.

Nandu nods in disbelief with a slight smile. Soon, Manik got busy talking about Cabir when Nandu felt someone's gaze on her making her restless. She excused herself and went to the washroom to calm herself.

The splashing of water hardly helped her. Without giving any time to compose, someone grabbed her from behind putting one hand on her mouth preventing her from shouting. The person whispered in Nandu's ears, the voice which is enough to send a shiver down her spine.

Person: Tumhe laga tum mujhse bhagogi aur mein chup chap dekhta rahunga? Badi chipak rahi ho us Malhotra se. Tumhe lagta hai he is interested in you? Ek baar vo apne papa ka position le le, dhakke maar kar nikalega apne ghar se. Yeh jo us par raj karti rehti ho na din bhar, aise hi thodi chodega tumhe. Apna revenge lega. And you. Phir toh tumhe mere hi paas aana hai na baby. You will be my Queen again. Tab tak miss me, baby. Actually, I have an idea. Why don't we collaborate on this project? We can spend so much time, like old times. Give it a thought, baby.

He left from there with an evil smirk. Nandu burst out in tears. The thing which she dreaded the most since the announcement of this conference has happened for real. She stopped crying once she heard her buzzing mobile.

Manik, who realized Nandu wasn't there for a long time, called her.

Call

Manik(tensed): Where are you? Kabse dhundh rahe hai tumhe. Are you ok? Nandini?

Nandu: coming.

Call Ends

She hung up the call. After washing her face, she took a deep breath and went out. She saw Manik and Cabir who had a worried look on their faces. As soon as she came, Manik saw her puffy eyes and guessed that she cried which just increased his worries.

Manik: Nandu are you fine? Did you cry?

He held her face in his hands which Nandini jerked off.

Nandu(sternly): Stay in your limits, Mr. Malhotra. I am your boss. Don't take any advantage of my friendliness towards you.

Cabir(frowns): Nandini but...

Nandu: Mr. Dhawan can we please discuss our groups tomorrow.

Cabir nods.

Nandu: Thanks. Would you mind dropping Mr. Malhotra home? I have some work and I will be taking the car.

Manik: Nand..

Nandu(cutting him off): Excuse me.

She storms off from there.
