Chapter 35

                    " What A Surprise"

It had been two weeks, since the shooting. That day changed so many lives in so many ways. Once Jarvis pulled that trigger life as he knew it didn't exist any longer . Teesha instantly fell where she stood and Michael and Jesse fired until they had no bullets left in the clip. The storage room was filled with law abiding men and paramedics.  Body's rested  covered over on gurneys , while the living were given Iv's and care.  Michael sat at his desk as he stared at the final draft of his report, remembering that faithful night.  He skid away from his desk walked to the chiefs office and dropped the papers on his desk. He gave his boss a quick nod and a simple smile and left...

   An hour or so later he drove around the city, he didn't have much of a home to go to,but he could always go home to his  mom's.. Michael opted for a hotel room near his house,though .He picked up some take out and just as he was about to pull into his  home for the night his phone rung. He was skeptical about taking the call,but he did and he agreed to meet the party on the other end in an hour....

Kimbra sat at the bus terminal with one bag, her ticket and her phone in her hand. After she was released  from the hospital she immediately packed her things up from her suite ,traded her car in for cash and set out to leave town. She hadn't any real closure with Michael and at this point what good would it do? But if he showed  up tonight maybe he would forgive her..

"Kim"Michael called out.

"You actually came. "She smiled and embraced him,but he pulled away.

"I...Maybe we shouldn't be so close."He told her. "You called and you're here, so that means you're leaving?"Michael asked

"I am,but I can't leave with things so complicated between us." She exclaimed.

"Kim,what do you want me to say? All of this could've been avoided had you gave me Jarvis whereabouts.  And the fact that you assaulted my wife, makes me hate you and I can't even do that."He exclaimed.

"I know it looks shitty,but I swear, I wanted to tell her and I came that night to do so. But things got heated, we had words and she put you out that same night,so I said fuck it. I tried to build a life with you. I wanted so badly to give you a child.  I still do."She sighed.

Michael scoffed and shook his head. "Honestly Kim do you think I could ever be with you? My wife was abused,assaulted and shot. You could've stopped this,but you didn't ."He said shrugging his shoulders.

"Blame me all you want,but you wanted me just as much as I needed you. Yeah,I kept things from you,but I never meant to. It's just, I love you so much and I know we can't...  I just wanted closure.  I need you to know I still love you. "She looked at him and walked closer.  "I know that you still love me too,because if you didn't there's no way you would've come."She sighed and smiled.

Michael stared at her and those feelings... that love and laughter the sex it all flashed before his eyes.  In some ways she did make him happy and he fell in love with the fact that he could be happy outside of California life. He couldn't deny the urges he once felt and the love he once had. How could he not tell her he did give a Damn about  her? But in reality he didn't give damn .

   After the silence broke he confessed everything he felt.  Word for word her heart broke.  He told her he wished not to ever see her again. He sighed and exhaled and said she wouldn't even be a memory in his thoughts. It pained him to be so rude,but the lack of care and concern she showed to every  life involved could never top the sting of  his words. Michael left her where she stood and didn't plan on seeing her ever again; hopefully....

Another week or so passed and Michael hadn't seen Teesha,since her release from the hospital.  He had time with Le'Lani at Katherine's, but seeing Teesha was a different situation. He spent many  nights outside of his estranged home  only  to make sure she was safe. And on this one particular morning Teesha got up extra early to throw out some trash she forgot about . She just met the sanitation workers before they left and when the truck pulled off she noticed Michael's car across the street. She let the speeding car pass and finally she  crossed the street.  She knocked on his window and he jumped abruptly...

"What a surprise. What are you doing here?"Teesha asked.

"I....I can't lie."He said and got out of the car. "I just had to know that you were safe. I just couldn't get that shooting out of my mind."He told her.

"As you see I'm  fine. Now you can go  you shouldn't be here."Teesha sighed and turned to leave.

Michael grabbed a hold of her wrist. "Teesh, please just talk to me. I know things.... I just need you...I love...."He sighed. "I should go."He winced out and opened car door.

"Michael. "She looked up at him. "I do have some important things to do,but if  you would stop by at six we can talk then."She told him.

Michael exhaled and smiled. "I'll be here at six sharp.  "He told her smiled slightly then entered his car.

It was late evening and Michael couldn't wait to meet with Teesha.  He even brought her favorite flowers hoping to at least make her smile. He could only hope for the best and Maybe she'd forgive him and they could make a new start. Teesha hadn't long got out of the shower.  She had taken care of her business from earlier and now  she prepared to talk to  Michael. She slid on a pair of Jeans and a tank top along with her sandals.  She pinned her hair in a bun then stared in the mirror as she held her belly . She was indeed fitting into her pregnant body. She glanced at the window when the door bell rung. She grabbed a folder from the desk and she walked down stairs to the foyer. She sat the folder on the entry way table then she opened the door...

"You're early. "Teesha smiled at Jesse as he walked in.

"I was out ,so I decided to come on. I hope that's OK?"He asked.

"No it's fine. You can take a seat in the den and I'll go get the tea and cookies. Make yourself at home. "She told him smiled and left for the kitchen....

Teesha had been back from the kitchen about five minutes now.  She had just sipped her  tea  when the door bell chimed. She excused herself to answer the door. Jesse  stood up and she told him she'd be right back and  for him to help himself with the tea and cookies. She walked back to the foyer and opened the door. Michael was standing there with a bouquet of flowers. He grinned with a hopeful smile  in his eyes. She smiled back and thanked him for the flowers and inhaled their fragrance.

"I'm going to sit these in some water and I'll meet you in the den."She told him and walked to the other end of the house.

Michael felt pretty good seeing Teesha back in his home and she loved the flowers,which he thought was a win.  He thought that tonight could be the beginning of everything for him. He took a deep breath, grinned like a man in love then entered the  den ....
