Astro and Wonderman Book 6 (Book version): Life and death

She just needs time

(Astro's point of view)

"Come on guys. We are gonna visit Starlight. It has been a while after all" I said.

"Well it's about time we saw her though. I mean it has been 17 years since we've been home" Pixie said.

"I'm excited. I bet Lulu has grown to be such a strong person" Darkness smiled.

So we all got our things together and we drove to Starlight's place.

"Um....are we sure this is the right place?" Pixie asked then.

"You know I didn't think about the fact that it could be someone else's place" I said.

"Don't worry. We'll find her" Wonderman smiled at me.

Then three kids ran out to the front of the yard.

It took me a second but I saw a grown up Lulu with two other kids.

Darkness got out of the car then along with the rest of us.

"Lulu!" Darkness said as she ran to hug her. They both landed on the ground from the force of the hug though.

"Hey! What do you think your doing? Who the heck are you anyway?" A girl with long brown hair and blue eyes said.

"I'm Darkness. Lulu's sister" Darkness smiled.

"How come I haven't seen you guys then" the girl questioned.

"Wait! Aston Darkness is my friend. Is it really you though? After all this time?" Lulu asked as she got up and looked at me with a look so sad.

"Of course it's me. Come on guys. We have a reunion to have" Darkness smiled.

"Loki, Pixie, Jess, Plete, Darkness" Lulu said as a few tears started falling down her face.

"I can't believe it. It's really you guys. My sister's back!" Lulu said as she hugged Darkness really tight and started crying tears of joy.

"Yeah. It's good to see you too" Darkness said as she started crying tears of her own.

"Oh, so she's one of the people you talk so highly of every now and then" Aston smiled.

"Yep. This is my sister Darkness and her boyfriend Loki" Lulu smiled.

"Boyfriend!" Loki said blushing really red all of a sudden.

"You mean to tell me that you haven't asked her out yet and your already 17" Lulu said.

"Who said I was gonna ask her out" Loki said still blushing.

"Come on Loki, she dosen't have forever" Lulu lectured.

"Look, we just got back from a mission so don't be on my case about asking a girl out when I just got back" Loki said.

"Okay, but your gonna have to ask eventually" Lulu said.

"So from what you've said they are Pixie, Loki, Jess, Plete and Darkness. Right?" Aston said as she pointed to each of us.

I nodded.

"Oh, and they are their parents. Astro and Wonderman" Lulu added.

"Well it's nice to meet you guys. She's told us a lot about all you guys" Aston said.

Then Starlight opened the door just barely and said "Dinner is ready"

She didn't even see us though. Her hair was all tangled up though and she had really dark circles under her eyes and it looked like she hadn't done much since we'd left.

"She didn't even notice me" I said worryingly. I'd never seen Starlight like that. It just wasn't the way she was. She always had a smile on her face. Although now gloom seemed to cover her face all the time.

"How long has mom been like that?" Darkness asked.

"Ever since you guys left. She just really missed you guys and she had already lost Caleb. It was just too much for her to handle at one time. I've tried cheering her up but......She seems happier when she's alone" Lulu said.

"Well I think we need to try and turn her frown upside down" Darkness smiled.

"Yeah but how? We haven't exactly seen her like this before. She's usually happy go lucky" Loki said.

"We'll figure something out" Darkness said.

Then I walked to her door and rang her doorbell. She came to the door and when she saw me she froze.

"No! I know it's a dream. It can't be" Starlight said as she started to slam the door.

It caught it before it closed though.

"It's not a dream. I promise you I'm really here" I said.

"Well then in that case tell me. Why are you so intent on leaving on me!" Starlight said. Then a couple of tears streamed down her face.

"I......I'm sorry. We needed to go on this mission though. The world could have been in danger if we didn't" I said.

"N....no. I'm the one who needs to apologize. I just......I don't know how to take the fact that your back in" Starlight said.

"Can we stay the night?" I asked.

"Of course" Starlight said. She half smiled. That relived me. At least she wasn't totally gone.

So we had breakfast and me and Starlight started reuniting. I also offered to fix her hair and she allowed me to.

Then once me and Starlight had worked things out with each other I had told her to get lots of sleep the day we came. She had been yawning up a storm whenever we are breakfast. I felt really bad and upset for her. I just wished there was something I could do for her to help her instantly.

"It'll be okay. Don't worry. She just needs time" Aston had said to me.

"Yeah. It's funny though. I was a lot like her before I met Wonderman, believe it or not" I said.

I watched as the kids laughed and cutted up with one another. It had been forever since I last saw that.

I was in for a surprise later tommorrow though.
