"Wait what-" you sat up straight, staring at the man standing in your door, a mix of confusion and annoyance bubbling in your throat. So they were still around but didn't bother popping over to your mum's place. Then again their address had changed. Your childhood home no longer yours. You wondered how your dad would have felt about that. Did they even try going back to see? However there was also a small speck of relief in your eyes from seeing that they were fine and healthy.
"Sorry kiddos for barging in but, I got a transmission from here and when I heard Y/N's voice... I couldn't stay back." He nodded reassured once he saw your face and awkwardly took a step back. "Seeing that you're okay, I'll just-" How much had they heard?
"You can't go." Your voice came out a little harsher than you had intended. They got a transmission too? That meant they had lots of advanced equipment. You wanted to know so badly where they were situated and what they were up to, who they were with.
He gestured towards the bags but his eyes lingered upon the many people stood about in the room with numerous bags laying about. It was clear you were in the middle of leaving. "You seem busy, I don't want to hold you back or put you in any danger."
A bit late for that-
"Can we talk now?" you jumped out of the sofa, a slight sting from standing on both of your feet and Taehyung shot up too from next to you, pulling you into him so some weight could be eased off of the injury. The first thought that came to your mind was 'is this weird to do in front of my dad?' and you felt your body temperature go up. Taehyung didn't seem faltered at all.
"Let's go into the meeting room," Namjoon suggested as seeing everyone standing around the main living room was giving him stress. He didn't like surprises.
"Sure," your dad agreed and follow him down the hallway. Did he care you were staying with a bunch of young people in some house that was way too expensive for most people who had worked their whole life to afford? What about the boy that was holding on to you tightly? Not even a single question from the man who had left you for 4 years.
The meeting room was quite warm since it was only afternoon and none of the windows were open. Jimin opened a few only a little bit, keeping the blinds folded downwards. It was still at the back of everyone's mind that Hitae could be here anytime soon in an attempt to ambush you all. Urgency was illustrated on mostly everyone's face.
"We have to go soon so I'm- I'm gonna be straight to the point," you took charge with a simple nod from Namjoon. He held ten fingers up meaning you had ten minutes or else this meeting would have to take place elsewhere.
"What really happened that you couldn't come home?"
Your father's eyes were still a soft brown, dots of green shone in the noon glow, "I'll tell you everything as quickly as I can."
Back when they had gone on a trip to catch a few drug dealers in the act, it had all gone well and all the agents were given the rest of the week off as those kind of missions were very difficult and often took years to infiltrate however they had been successful in 3 days. At first your dad had thought nothing much about it. But one of his comrades became suspicious. Something wasn't right and the more they spoke of the controversy in quiet, the more it sounded reasonable. The next morning, instead of returning home, a few men, including your dad, stayed back to listen in on a superiors meeting, just to have some background information on what they were planning next.
They had been completely blindsided.
It turned out that actually the drug ordeal had been a complete phony and was in fact set up by some superiors as a distraction. Of course, many of the men became furious and wanted justice. Nonetheless it was much more difficult than that. Who would the judge believe? Internal Affairs? The superiors obviously. Word of mouth wasn't crucial enough.
