"Marge, hurry everyone is meeting up at the rink in twenty minutes!" Debbie said. Debbie Ryles and Marge Jacobs have been best friends since the fifth grade, they were now in seventh. Every friday at 6pm on the dot they would always go hang out at the skating rink to enjoy the loud music, skating, dancing, and just hanging out with a bunch of friends from school to welcome the weekend. To them it was the perfect place to make it seem like one big party.
This night in particular was a special one. Debbie was finally going to introduce Marge to who she thought would be her future husband! "Oh no, sweetie we have to do something with your hair, have you even brushed it today?" Debbie said jokingly. "Yes I brushed it, I cant help the humidity makes it frizzy." Marge had beautiful, long, bouncy, dark brown, wavy hair that met the top of her hips. Debbie was always a bit jealous because, the way she puts it is she was cursed with short, baby fine, dirty blonde hair that never seemed to grow.
Debbie wrapped Marge's hair in a beautiful rose like bun with a few locks of hair draped down in the front. "Absolutely stunning! Now lets go!" Debbie said as she grabbed Marge's arm pulling from in front of the mirror, she was amazed with what Debbie done with her hair. They rushed out the door grabbing their skates ( they had their own because they hated putting their feet in those dreaded rentals ) and their purses. "How did you do that with my hair? I can never get this mess to do anything." Marge asked. "Its amazing what you can do when you help you mother labled the best beautition in the parish all the time isnt it!" Debbie laughed.
They only lived two blocks from the rink as they called it so they would laugh and joke as they walked or sometimes even skated there. When they arrived, the special friend she was going to introduce Marge to was already there waiting for his friend Max Arnold to arrive. He was leaned against the building just a few feet from the front door with one foot propped on the wall, arms crossed, and suprisingly a cigerette hanging out of his mouth ( his was the first time Debbie had ever seen him smoking ). He wore torn blue jeans ( just around the knees and feet ), a leather jacket, and a white shirt with the rolling stones lips printed on the front, and leather boots with a silver chain wrapped around the ankle of each one.
As soon as marge spotted him her eyes grew wide with the 'love sparkles', her jaw hanging open, and stopped in place grabbing Debbie by the wrist to stop her. "Debbie, look at him, he is gorgeous!" Debbie took a second to glance back and forth between the two gawking at eachother. "You think so?! Great lets go meet him!" She finally responded.
"Hey Jason! Im so glad you came! This is my best friend Marge Jacobs, Marge this is my good friend Jason Talors!" Jason extended his hand out to Marge, she placed her hand in his expecting a simple handshake, instead he kissed her hand and said, "Its an honor to meet a beautiful burnette such as yourself." Marge was shook ( in a good way ) and responded, "The pleasure is all mine!" Debbie thought it to be a bit corney but hey it worked.
By that time Max pulled up, his mom dropped him off at the front door and said, "I will be back to pick you up around 8:30 or 9:00, I have some work to catch up on, have fun!" and drove off. He walked over to Jason, Marge, and Debbie, "Whats up man, these two lovely ladies are going to be our dates for the night." Jason said, greeting his friend. They paired up, Jason with Marge and Max with Debbie and made their way inside each paying the $5 fee and found themselves a table. It was still early so no music was playing at the moment and only a few others were there. The four decided to get a big plate of nachos with cheese to share each pitching in a few bucks to pay and gathered around their table to eat and talk before skating. The girls sat on one side and the boys on the other corresponding with their dates. Debbie had a good feeling she made the right decision introducing Marge and Jason, they seemed to hit it off from the moment they locked eyes, but she couldnt help noticing that Max seemed more interested in Marge than herself. She caught him watching her several times as she and Jason were skating. She began feeling left out and a lump in her throat began to form.
"I have to get his attention or find someone else to hang out with, this entire night cant go to waste." Debbie thought to herself. She asked Max a few question to get his attention and get to know him a little.... "Are you into sports?" "What kind of music do you like?" "Do you have any pets?" "What is your favorite holiday?" but evey question went unanswered, he was to wrapped up in watching Marge and Jason skate in circles around the rink. So she got up and went to the bathroom to wash the cheese if her hands and sit in the back to watch some t.v in hopes she would get lost in whatever movie was playing so the timene would go by faster. Marge was suppose to spend the night with her so she couldn't go home and she didn't want to ruin Marge's night just because she wasn't having fun.
In the back she found a comfy spot on the couch, flopped down, propped her feet up on the ottoman, crossed her arms, and rested her head against the back of the couch. They were playing the movie 'Son of Flubber', it was only in the first twenty minutes so lucky enough she didn't miss to much and still had a chance to try and get lost in it. Meanwhile, out on the rink a slow love song came on, 'Cant help falling in love' by Elvis Presley! A voice on the intercom, "Couples only during this song, everyone else off the floor until the next one please, couples only." Jason pulled Marge closer to him holding her hand and mouthing the words to her while gazing in her beautiful brown eyes. Her heart pounding and cheeks sore from smiling so much but she couldnt stop, she couldnt stop herself from admiring the guy before her, "He is perfect!" she thought.
Max in the background still watching, picturing himself with Marge, oblivious to the fact that his date had left the table thirty minutes ago and has yet to return. The song ended, Marge and Jason decided to take a break from skating for a little bit and check on Debbie and Max hoping they were hitting it off as well as they were. Max quickly turned his head back to where Debbie was sitting. To late, "Where did Debbie go?" Marge asked, "Oh um, she went to put on her skates, we were just about to join you two." her skate still sitting under the table unnoticed.
