Chapter 33

After three long years in juvie Justin was finally released, Jack and May signed the paper work and took him home. The only thing Justin had on his mind was to find Kim and make sure she was ok. She lived on the next street over from him so he was able to walk to her house after he ate a good home cooked meal. On his way, he thought about what he might say to her when he seen her. He wasn't even sure if she knew he was out of juvie yet. There appeared to be a party going on when he arrived so he stood in front of her house debating on if he should show up or not. Kim walked outside to get the cooler full of ice, spotted Justin, and waved him over. "Hey! I didn't know you were out already. JT said you might not be getting out until Monday. How did you get out on a Saturday?" Justin stared at her taking in her new image trying not to get upset. "Kim, what is this?" He asked keeping a calm voice. "Oh, um. I guess we need to talk." She said rubbing her neck.

Justin took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "I was hoping you were going to wait for me, but I guess three years is a bit long." He said looking at the ground and shoving his hands in his pockets. "I have been waiting for you." She said smiling. "It doesn't look that way. A girls body changes when she is having sex, and your body has changed a lot. Don't get me wrong, it's a damn good change, you look amazing, but I don't think we did it enough for you change like that." Kim smiled again from his complement and grabbed his hand. "Come on, I have someone I want you to meet."

She pulled him inside continuing to hold his hand and called out a girls name. "Haley, come here sweetheart, I want you to meet someone!" "Who is Haley?" He whispered. "You will see." She said smiling. A little girl came running into the living room, Kim's parents and a few guests stood around watching. Kim knelt down to this little girls level still holding Justin's hand pulling him down with her. "Haley, I want you to meet Justin! You remember me talking about him right?" Haley nodded not saying a word. "Justin this is Haley, our daughter!" Justin went into shock staring at this little girl trying to process what she just said to him.

Kim's parents gasped and their guests jaws dropped. Someone dropped a glass in the kitchen and the crashing sound caused everyone to go silent. "Today is Haley's birthday! Can you tell daddy how old you are?" Kim continued. "I am free." She said holding up three fingers. "You are not my daddy, I don't have a daddy. I don't like you." She continued and ran off. "Haley, that is not nice! You come back and apologize right now little lady!" Kim said with a calm voice slightly aggravated. This was not the way she wanted Justin to meet his daughter, but it was to late now. Haley walked back into the living room with her hands behind her back turning left to right making her little flowered sun dress swish as she walked. "I'm sorry your not my daddy." She said with a smile and left again. "Haley!" Kim said with a more aggravated tone.

Kim and Justin stood up and walked outside, "I'm sorry, this isn't how I was hoping it would go." She said. "This can't be true. That is not my kid." Justin finally said. Kim looked at him confused and almost wanting to cry. "She is yours Justin. You are the only one I have had sex with." Kim's parents burst through the door onto the porch where Justin and Kim were standing. "So, you are the little fuck that can't keep his dick in his pants! You are the one that knocked my little girl up!" Kim's dad practically screamed pointing his finger in Justin's face. "I should beat the fuck out of you! What is wrong with you boy?" He continued. "Dad! No! We are not going to do this at my daughter's party!" Kim said stepping between the two. "Fine! Tomorrow! You and me! Same time! Right here!" He said trying to calm himself. "What are you? Ten? Really old man? Act your age!" Justin said laughing. "You two are to young to be doing this!" Kim's mom chimed in. "Yea, well, shit happens lady! What's done is done, get over it and move on!" Justin returned.

He wanted to leave but Kim wouldn't let him, she wanted him to stay for the party and get to know his daughter. Haley didn't seem to care about his presence at all. She played joyfully with a few friends from day care without a care in the world. Justin kept and eye on her thinking to himself how this could have happened. 'Kim must have been pregnant before I went to Juvie. I have been in there a little over three years. So...' His thoughts were interrupted by Kim sitting down on the couch next to him. "Do you want some cake and ice cream?" She asked. "No, thank you though. Are we still together Kim?" "Absolutely! I mean, unless you don't want to be." "I do, but how are we suppose to do this now? Are you sure she is mine?" He asked. Kim smiled and nodded. "The only thing that is different is we have her now. I promise, once you get to know her and spend some time with her you will fall in love with her! She is super smart and very lovable. You two just need time to get use to each other that's all." "Ok."

Justin stayed for a little while after the party to help her clean up and sat down with her and Haley in the front yard. Justin watched Kim play with her and caught himself smiling, which he quickly wiped off his face as soon as he realized it was there. Kim was so good with her, but she had also had three years of practice and he was just now being thrown into it. He thought if this child really was his he would try to be a better parent than his ever were. There was only one problem, Haley didn't seem to want anything to do with him. She gave him dirty looks when she actually looked at him, she pretended he wasn't there when he came around and interrupted when he talked to Kim. To him she seemed like a spoiled little brat. To Haley, Justin was just another imaginary friend of hers that she didn't like and tried to wish him away like she did with all the other imaginary friends she had that she didn't like. Unfortunately, it didn't work to well with real people.

Kim tried her best to get the two to play together, breaking out Haley's bored games was first, but Haley refused to let Justin play, she snatched the game pieces out of his hands and it turned into a snatch match between them. Then they went to the park together and Kim tried to convince Haley to let Justin push her on the swing, ( she refused and said, "No! mama push me!" ) then tried to get her to let him ride down the big slide with her, ( she refused that too saying, "I'm a big girl! I do it myself!" ) she was running short of ideas, she wasn't going to give up though, she wanted to have her own little family together and for them be happy. Which seemed like a long shot by the way things were going. The more Haley pushed Justin away, the more Justin began getting use to it and started playfully pushing back. If she said 'I don't like you,' he would return it and say, 'Well, I don't like you either! So now we are even!'. Deep down Justin wanted to be a good father for the child, but he still was not convinced that this child was his.

By Haley's fourth birthday, Kim had grown sick of the two bickering and decided it was time to prove to both of them that they were related, she set up an appointment for a DNA test. Sitting in the lobby Haley and Justin shot faces back and forth with Kim sitting between them. "I swear, you two are a hand full! I am so glad I only had one kid instead of two." She said shaking her head. "Oh, come on babe, lighten up! I'm just having fun!" Justin said smiling. Kim couldn't help but smile back at him. Something about his smile made her melt inside and she couldn't stay mad at him. Haley rolled her eyes and looked away while they kissed.

After the test was done and the doctor left the room to get the results, Justin and Haley had an evil eyed staring contest. Kim crossed her arms and rolled her eyes. "Can you two stop for five minutes please?" She asked. "I won't stop until she stops!" Justin responded "And I won't stop until he goes away!" Haley squeaked in her best angry voice. "Well, Justin she is probably not going to stop, and Haley, he is not going away! You are stuck with him for the rest of your life!" "Fine by me!" Justin said shrugging his shoulders holding his stare. Haley broke concentration and looked at her mother. "Why am I stuck with him for the rest of my life?" She asked. Justin threw is fists in the air and shouted, "HA! I WIN!" Before Kim could answer the doctor walked back in the room with the results. "Congratulations! It's a girl!" He said happily holding his hands out. Justin and Haley turned their heads to the doctor in disbelief.
