After JT and Jessies wedding Kim began feeling depressed, she realized that even being apart of a wedding had no effect on Justin, he still had no interest in getting married to her. Se felt like her dream of having a complete family was fading and pushed her over board into drug use. The relationship took a tragic turn, they began arguing, a lot. Justin didn’t understand where her anger was coming from and he tried to fix things between them by talking to her calmly and point blank asking her what was wrong He set up romantic outings for just the two of them, held her when she broke down into tears that seemed to spark out of n where, lit candles in low light with rose peddles surrounding a warm romantic bubble bath, cooked and cleaned more so she could relax, nothing worked. She pushed him away, threw things at him, hit him, and screamed in his face.
He wasn’t one to lay hands on a woman out of anger, (he was a pleaser, not a beater), so he turned to alcohol. It wasn’t his best idea but somehow, being drunk made the physical and mental abuse more tolerable, and it worked, for a while.
The massive drug use, and Justin’s obliviousness drove Kim to forget the man that stalked her nightmares living a few houses down, the one that watched Haley as she walked to and from Carmen’s house; she began letting Haley walk alone again. Haley was six now and capable of seeing danger. Kim stood watch while Justin sat drunk, playing video games in his room. He wasn’t much of a gamer but with Kim’s constant bitching, being drunk and now playing games kept him out of her line of fire. Haley walked to Carmen’s house, almost. The man stood up without Kim noticing and began taking one unnoticed step after another off his porch and towards the girl. Kim took notice as soon as he reached to black top snapping out of her day dream. Haley screamed and began running back to her mother, but the man was faster. He snatched her up and ran into his house with her while Kim screamed and frantically ran to get Justin and call the police. “Justin! Help her! He got her! Run!” she yelled through the house searching for a phone. There was no need for her to say anymore than she did, he knew exactly what she meant. The gut twisting feeling he had in his stomach was all he needed. He threw the game controller across the room and ran out of the house, no shoes, no shirt, just shorts. He ran as hard and as fast as he could to DC’s house, (the man that snatched Haley off the street), burst through the door, and was met with a gruesome sight.
Kim followed with her cell phone attached to her ear screaming DC’s address into it. Justin grabbed DC by what little bit of hair he had and punched him in the side of the head so hard it sent DC flying unconscious to the floor. Haley was covered in blood, Justin scooped her up gently trying carefully not to inflict any more pain on her than she already had by moving her to fast or holding her to tight and handed her off to Kim; his business with DC was not over yet.
Kim held Haley close and went back home, before she made it in the house, police and ambulance trucks swarmed the neighborhood She waved the ambulance over and jumped in the back with Haley, by then their little girl fell unconscious. Police ransacked DC’s house finding Justin beating the human shish kabob. DC was lifeless on the floor in a pool of his own blood as Justin continuously smashed him with his heavy fists repeatedly. After several attempts the police men were finally able to pull Justin off the dead man, placed him in cuffs, and into the back of a patrol unit. He was escorted to the police station for questioning. When they asked what happened all Justin could say was, “I wanted him to know how it felt.” In a voice that seemed distant as if he was still beating the man in his mind. After questioning Justin, (with no helpful results), the police took him to the hospital to be by his daughters’ side. Kim was an absolute wreck praying Hayley would pull through; she was in emergency surgery for the slash wounds DC had inflicted on her.
Justin sat with Kim holding onto her for dear life, they cried together waiting for the surgeon to come out and tell them their baby girl was going to be fine. Hours ticked by slowly every exhausting, dreaded minute, taunting them. Finally, Kim threw herself out of Justin’s arms and out of the chair, “That is it!” she yelled and took off running to the door the doctors pushed Haley through two hours ago that seemed like ten. Justin jumped up and stopped her, she screamed and punched him in the chest repeatedly, “Get out of my way! I want my daughter!” Tears streamed down her already soaked, make up smeared cheeks. Justin pulled her gently into a hug, she gave in and wrapped her arms around him. There was nothing he could say to help her feel better, so he said nothing, he just stood there holding her pulling as much comfort from her as she was getting from him. He would tell her everything would be ok, but he knew it would be a lie.
