Gavin POV

Did I really want to call a guy I just met? I mean I can't get into my room and I can't get a new key. It's like the hotel hates everyone on Mondays.

I held my phone in my hand with Geoff's contact already out.

I let my hand linger over the call button for a few minutes before I tapped if and brought the phone up to my ear.

"I'm such a knob." I said as I waited.

After a few rings I heard Geoff's voice from the other line.

"Hey Gavin what's up?" He said.

I started walking around the lobby.

"Oh... Ya know... Rain.."

I heard him laugh a bit,"Yeah I do know it's raining outside. Did you fucking call me to remind me it was raining?"

I shook my head even though he couldn't see me.

"Well, I left my key in my hotel room. And the receptionist desk is closed. So basically I'm a Brit in wet clothes and I'm locked out of my room for the night."

Geoff laughed even louder,"You are such an idiot Gav."

"That doesn't help me. I'll just go sleep on the streets."

"Well what do you want me to do about it?"

I rubbed my chin and sat down in one of the chairs.

"You could sleep in the lobby?" He said.

"Or you could come to the hotel, beat up the receptionist with your great mustache, ask for a key, break down my door, put the door back, and then use the key."

I heard silence on the other line.

"Shut the fuck up I'm on my way."

As followed his words, the sound of three bells indicating the call has ended.

I chuckled to myself.

I really hope he is coming to break down the door for me.

I never thought I would be friends with a guy like him. He has tattoos and I don't. He has a mustache which I don't. He is different from me.

Yet the tattoos make him look rough but he isn't. And his laugh could cure cancer.

About 10 minutes later a car pulled up outside the hotel.

Out came Geoff who began running through the rain to the lobby.

Immediately he went up to me and softly slapped me.

"That's for being an idiot."

I laughed,"Are you here to break the door."

"In your dreams. This is the united states not England."

I put my phone in my wet pants pocket and started tapping the bell a million times.

"You are something else Gavin. Now you can sit here ringing that bell, or you can get in the car and I'll give you free candy."

I stopped ringing the bell,"You wouldn't."

He winked.

"Actually no, I have a wife and a kid. You can stay at my place for the night, I don't want to leave you in the rain."

Now put it this way.

You meet a guy that is a totally new person to you. And that person is completely opposite of you.

That person asks you to stay at their place and what do you say?

"Sure, I guess."

Exactly.

"I should make you sit in the back where my daughter would sit."

I laughed,"For what?"

"For making me miss Breaking Bad on tv!"

I started laughing historically and when I recovered Geoff was already walking back to his car.

I ran through the rain to the car and got in passenger.

As soon as I buckled my seat belt I looked over at Geoff.

He was staring at me.

"What?" I asked.

He looked at the back seats and then at me and then the back seats again.

"Really?" I started grinning.

He nodded.

I unbuckled my seat belt and climbed into the back seats and then re buckled the seat belt.

"Are you happy?"

He smirked,"Yes Gavin I am."

And then he started driving to his house.

I'm such a great person that I stay with strangers. This should be an interesting night.

"So...,"I said,"About that free candy."
