ALEC'S POV.

Thea, Izzy and I were in the tech room, searching on ways to find out who was buying mundane blood. Well Izzy was on the computer, I was telling her what to do and Thea was looking at her nails.

Something caught my eye and I turned to see Jace, Clary and...a mundane! What is a mundane doing in the institute?!
I nudged Thea slightly to get her attention to the problem. When she saw the mundane, she glanced at me and I just grabbed her hand to pull her up. We then head towards the trio.

"-they'll do their typical mundie thing for a few hours, and then the area will be clear."

"What is going on?" I wondered."Why is there a mundane in the institute?"

"A circle member followed him to get to Clary." Jace replied and I could feel Thea grip my hand.

"A circle rune, just like the guys that took my mother." Clary added.

"What exactly are circle members and why are they trying to kill us?" The mundane asked.

"All we know is, a long time ago the circle lead a revolt. A lot of shadowhunters got killed... Including my father." Jace said without any emotion at all.

"And since the revolt we've been forbidden, to even hear about the circle." Thea stated, looking down.

"But how is it even possible? It's your history." Clary asked.

"Says the girl who didn't even know she was a shadowhunter." Jace stated.

"Yeah, yeah your right. And now the only person who know the truth, is missing. So I don't care about the rules or what's forbidden, I'm...there's gotta be someone who can tell us why they have taken my mother." Clary argued.

"There is, you coming?" Jace asked the read head.

"Yeah." She replied before she and the mundane walked towards Jace. Jace turned back to look at her and the mundane.

"No, no, no, not you." Jace said, pointing at the mundie.

"Hey we're a package deal." Clary defended and the mundie nodded in agreement.

"There are runes all over this floor that would kill your mundane boyfriend." He said, rolling his eyes.

"He's not my-"
"I'm not like-" the mundane started before sighing,"We're, uh, just friends."

"Best friends." Clary corrected him.

"Oh... Friendzoned hardcore." Thea said with a laugh and Izzy and I laughed with her.

"Yeah and I'm tough. I can handle runes, so, uh, bring on the runes." The mundane said and smacked Jace on the chest, hurting his hand,"What exactly are runes?"

"They give shadowhunters our demon fighting powers." Thea explained before taking out her stele and running over her bind to rune on her forearm, Izzy did the same.

"So hot." The mundie whispered and I could feel a pang of jealousy flow through me. I pulled Thea by the waist, giving the mundane a glare and Jace cleared his throat,"The runes."

"Don't worry, Clary. I'll take care of the best friend... In fact I was just about to make breakfast." Izzy flirted.

"On second thought the runes might be less lethal." Jace said.

"I'll pretend I didn't hear that. Please excuse my brother's lack of manners, this is Alec and Thea...and I'm Isabelle." Izzy introduced, holding a hand out to the mundie.

He smiled at Thea, but quickly looked at Isabelle and he nervously took Izzy's hand and shook it.

"Lewis, Simon Lewis, two first names, am I still talking?" He blunted and Thea giggled.

"See best friend safe and sound here." Jace told Clary.

"Jace, if anything happens to him-" Clary started, but was surprisingly cut off by the mundane.

"Go on, I'll be fine... think." Simon said, flustered.

"Where are we going?" Clary questioned.

"Training room." Jace replied and before leaving the room, he  patted the mundane on the shoulder,"Hey, don't eat the food. Dangerous." He whispered, leaving the mundane with wide eyes and sent a wink at Thea before Clary called him.

Izzy lead the mundane somewhere, which left me and Thea in the room.

"I don't like him." I said, letting go of Thea and folding my arms.

"You don't like anyone, Alec." She replied.

"I like you." I said with a smirk.

"Everyone likes me." Thea told me with a scoff.

"But I like you more than anyone in the universe." I said.

She just rolled her eyes playfully, pulled me by the jacket and dragged me to her room.
