"Okay class, we're doing a project and the person to your left will be your partner. The information is on the board, you have one week." Mr. Poser said.

I looked to my left and saw, Shawn, smiling at me.

"I don't get it." I said giving him a dirty look.

"What is there not to get?" He said confused.

"You look and act so innocent, but you're not." I answered.

"I'm not harmful, i just know things other people don't and I use it to my own advantage." He said smiling again.

"If that's what you want to call it.." I mumbled under my breath.

"Why have you never talked to me if I'm in all of your periods?" He asked.

"I don't know, you always tell people you prefer being alone, and I was going to but you beat me to it." I said writing down an equation for the project.

He didn't reply just fiddled with his pencil.

"Okay class, have a wonderful rest of the day, don't forget page 58 in your workbooks is homework." Mr. Poser said as the bell rang.

I grabbed my books and started to walk out before I felt someone tug at my hand.

"My house, after school. we have to get this project going." Shawn wispered handing me a piece of paper.

The paper had his phone number and address on it and said "the kid with no name" ontop.

I shook my head and went to my locker. When I got there I saw my friend Taylor standing there.

"Hey, Tay." I said giving him a warm smile.

"Hey, Jack. How have you been?" He asked.

"good. how have you been?" I said returning the question.

"I saw you talking to, Shawn." He said out of nowhere.

"Yeah, so?" I said confused.

"He's weird and crazy." He said as I shut my locker.

"So. I think he just needs friends." I said walking toward my English class.

"I don't know."

"Taylor, come on. He's not dangerous or anything." I said giving him a "are serious right now" look.

"You don't know that!" He said laughing.

"Well looks like I'll find out tonight when I go to his house." I said waving the paper on his face.

The rest of the day went by pretty fast, I talked to Shawn every chance I got.

When the school day was over I started walking toward Shawns house. When i was in front of it i look at it throughly. It was big, and looked cozy.

I walked up to the door and knocked. A girl a few years younger than me opened the door.

"Uh, hi. I'm looking for, Shawn." I said gripping my History book tightly.

"A pretty girl, looking for, Shawn Mendes, my brother?" She asked baffled.

"Um, yes.." I said confused.

"Come in." She said laughing and shaking her head. "I'm Aaliyah." She added.

"I'm Jacquelyn." I said.

"Aaliyah, really." Shawn said walking down the stairs.

"What? I was just being friendly." She replied with a smile.

"Yeah. sure. Come on Jacquelyn." Shawn said grabbing my hand and leading me upstairs.

We entered a room that was a light brown, I'm assuming it's his room since he has blocks on his wall that spell out "shawn". He had guitars everywhere, and a few posters.

"You can sit down." He said motioning toward the bed.

I sat down on the edge of the bed and he sat next to me.

"I have a feeling we're not working on the project." I said after a few minutes.

"Smart girl." He replied chuckling.

"Why am I here then?" I asked.

"Jacquelyn, we've went to school together for ten years, and I have been wishing for this day for about 6 of those years. I know you think I'm weird because I don't have friends and I showed up at your house out of no where but I had to do something, ten years of you avoiding me, it was time, it's time." He said looking at me.

"time for what?" I asked.

"time for me to tell you that I like you, I know you, probably better than I know myself, it might sound weird but it's the truth. I see you everywhere, when you're not looking I'll glance at you, even if it's just for a second. you're popular, and fun, and out of this world beautiful. then there's me, a loser who's boring and ugly." He replied looking at his hands.

"You're not ugly!" I almost shouted. "I thought out loud.. sorry." I said embarrassed.

"so you don't think I'm ugly?" He smiled.

"no, I don't." I said looking at him.

We made eye contact for the first time since this morning. His eyes where a chocolate brown, while mine were a sea of green and blue.

He bit his lip and started to lean into me. I knew what was happening but I couldn't stop him.. Maybe I didn't want to stop him.

He was just centimeters from my face, his eyes looking directly into mine. They're filled with so much pain, you can just tell.

"Can -"

I cut him off by pressing my lips to his. his lips where soft and plump. Our lips moved in sync like that's what they were made to do.

I pulled away when I heard someone clear their throat.

"Mom!" Shawn said embarrassed.

"I'm sorry, hunny. I'm Shawns mom." She said extending her hand to me.

"I'm Jacquelyn Brooks." I said shaking her hand.

"Mom, please." Shawn said with an annoyed tone.

"Oh sorry. Have fun." She said walking out.

I turned back to face shawn and his cheeks were red.

"Aw, are you embarrassed because your mommy." I said in a baby voice, and pinching his cheeks.

He grabbed my hand and pulled them away from his face. He had a serious look, as did I. We sat there and looked at each other for awhile until he crashed his lips into mine. Due to the force I fell back onto his bed and he hovered over me. Our kiss eventually turned into a make out session. After awhile I pulled away. He still hovered above me. He gave me a smile and shook his head.

"I've been waiting to do that for six years." He said looking at me.

He stood up and pulled me up with him. He intertwined our finger and rubbed my hand with his thumb.

I don't know much about this guy, but something about him just makes me want him.

"You're different, you know that?" I asked looking up at him.

"Is that a bad thing?" He asked worried.

I bit my lip and shook my head no.

He took my face on his hands and kissed me again, I wrapped my arms around his neck and ran my fingers though this hair. He pulled me closer deepening the kiss. When we both pulled away he rested his forehead on mine and smiled.

"You're diverse."
