As summer approached i began to get a little nervous. I knew Logan would do his best to make me feel at home, but i wasn't used to spending so much of the year away from my father. Ontop of that, the thought of meeting logan's parents and what they would think of me weighed heavily on my mind. Regardless, i was still excited to learn more about his family and the muggle world. I was wandering the halls deep in thought, not looking where i was going, when i collided with someone crashing to the ground. I glanced up only to stare into those icy eyes that i came to know so well. I had been successfully avoiding him for the past week. I scrambled to get my things up and started to dash in the opposite direction only to feel his hand grasp my wrist sternly. I didn't look back, didn't move. He spoke calmly, keeping the grasp on my wrist.
"Why've you been avoiding me lately?"
"I... I've just been... busy. Preparing for summer break and all..."
"Don't lie to me Belmore. I know that your father canceled again. "
"Yes. He did. But that doesn't mean that i've not made other plans."
He let go of me, still fixated on me.
"With whom?"
"Logan. He and his family have invited me to stay with them."
I could feel the intensity of his stare. If looks could kill, i'd be dead a hundred times over. He stormed off without another word.
He'd become more distant after our chat. His cold gaze was spine chilling. I tried my best to ignore him, even though it felt like a stab to the gut.
'Why?.... Why are you being like this Tom?...'Summer break was a week away, i sat in potions, mindlessly twirling around my quill. Just trying to stay out of Tom's way, it was like we were back to being strangers. I wished more than anything to have a different potions partner. My eyes wandered around the classroom before landing on a pair of almost glowing green eyes, locking with mine for a split second before quickly looking away. I stared at the boy for a few moments longer, curious as to why he happened to be watching me. I shrugged it off as coincidental, he was probably just looking around bored. Finally class was over, Tom had finished the potion perfectly, ofcourse. I had been so caught up in my own thoughts that it had taken me a moment to realize that class was over. The room was almost empty as i gathered up my things. I headed to the girls lavatory before my next class began, only to hear crying coming from one of the stalls. I walked over to where the sound was coming from and knocked on the stall door.
"Go away!!!" They screamed.
I jumped a bit startled as it flew open revealing a very disheveled Myrtle.
"Oh, *hiccup* it's youuu." She sniffled as she wiped away her tears.
"Myrtle, are you okay? Was somebody messing with you again? "
"Oh it was that awful Olive again! She was making fun of my glasses again!"
"Oh Myrtle, just ignore Olive and her ghastly crew. They'll get what they deserve later in life."
I smiled sweetly at her, suddenly i perked up.
"Hey! Its practically the weekend, why don't you and i hang out tomorrow?"
She looked at me with slight surprise.
"Why would you want to do that? Nobody else wants to spend time with me."
"Because you're a wonderful person Myrtle! Really! Just think about it okay?"
She gave a small smile and nod.The next day we met up in the dining hall. We made small talk over breakfast then made our way to the library. It was all the two of us could really think to do, though i didn't mind. It wasn't about what we did, it was about spending time with and cheering up the sad girl. Myrtle started looking for this book she had been told about, on herbology. I decided to try and find a book or two on Alchemy. We chatted the whole time, about everything under the sun honestly. She really was a nice girl. Just as I'd found what i was searching for, i noticed Myrtle still at the end of the aisle. Silent and focused. I turned to see what had her acting so odd, only to have my eyes meet with the chilling stare i knew so well. The moment our eyes locked he stormed off, out of the library completely, knocking the book from my hand. I stood there frozen. Did he really hate me this much? I couldn't understand why. I hadn't done anything.
'Maybe i really do just do nothing but annoy him...'
Myrtle brought me out of my thoughts as she tapped my shoulder.
"Are you okay?" She asked, handing me back the book that had been knocked to the ground.
"Y-yeah. I'm just suddenly not feeling so well. I have to go.. I'm so sorry Myrtle. It was really great spending time with you."
And with that i ran out of the library and back to my dorm.
