Leon's POVThe moment Ada ended her communication is the moment I spoke, my arms crossed. The fact that she had to leave to answer whatever call she got was really puzzling.
She faced me with a smile and I eyed her strangely. What was this woman really up to?
"Ask if you must Leon" she teased as she headed towards the refrigerator, she looked over her shoulder at me.
She was up to something and had the audacity to be calm about it.
"Beer, vodka, whiskey?" She asked as though everything about this situation was something to be calm about.
"Vodka..." I told her, Ada straightening to prepare what I requested along with her drink.
"You said you had answers Ada" I stated firmly, Ada's back to me as she spoke.
"Leon you are after the wrong person here, the men that escaped is the ones your government buddies should be after" she told me as she faced me, handing me the drink while sipping her own.
"What was inside that case that you had to risk your life for it?" I asked, Ada's face passive and not liking the question I asked. With here there would always be questions.
"It doesn't matter, the case has gotten to where it needs to be thanks to your interference Leon" she stated bitterly as she sipped her drink.
I clenched my fist, with Ada it had always been games. Yes I may have prevented Ada from obtaining the case but knowing it was in her hands would not give a better feeling.
"Based on what I can see here you need my help then" I pointed out clearly and emptying the glass she stepped closer to me.
"I need no one..." she pointed out but before her hands could caress my cheek I took hold of it. It matter not what Ada thought, she actually needed help in whatever she was doing if these men are dangerous as she claimed.
"Enough games Ada I can't help you if you keep playing games and like it or not you actually need my help" I hissed and she gave me equal irritation.
"Who says I'm playing a game Leon, you may have only been a cop for a day Leon but I'm sure you are smarter than that...if I intended to harm you...wouldn't I have done so already?" She asked, my hold on her hand becoming lose.
"You are good at leading me on Ada...the night we met in Raccoon city that's exactly what you were doing...You were a spy sent by Wesker and I like a fool deafened you" I told her, looking away from her as the bitter memories of Raccoon city plagued my mind.
It was true, I'd did fall in love with Ada and the sad part was, I would still defend her. I would still look for the good in her even if there wasn't any left in her.
There was silence, me leaning against the island as I took a huge swig of my drink. Ada hugged herself the moment I looked at her.
"I never lied about admiring your compassion...nobody cares about me Leon" she told me as I set the glass down.
"What about..." I didn't finish but she got the hint regardless, Ada coming to close to comfort.
"Wesker? I'm nothing but a valued asset...if I die Wesker couldn't care less unless his task died with me" she told me.
She scoffed, "Even in death the man would growl at me for failing " she fumed. I felt bad for her, no one really cared about her yet those who did, she pushed them away.
"Ada..." And her lips met mine in no time, my hands going to her waist on instinct. I pulled her closer, her smaller body moving into mine.
She moved against me, my erection pressed against the fabric of my pants. The moment the kiss depended familiar pale skin and blue eyes appeared before me.
I broke the kiss, taking steps back.
What the hell was I thinking?
"What's wrong?" Ada asked, my vision going blurry and rather than acting on my guilt and leave, I found myself kissing the Asian woman again. Her arms went around my neck, her tongue entering my mouth and roaming it.
My jacket fell to the floor softly as Ada was beneath me the moment we were on the sofa. Her legs went around my waist, my hand going for her zipper while her hands did the same.
******
The sound of a faucet running was what woke me up, my waist down being the only part of my body covered. I felt tired, not wanting to leave my position on the sofa as I stared at the ceiling.
I sat up, fisting my hair as what happened hours ago replayed in my mind in a blurry manner. No matter how unclear my flashbacks came up one thing was clear.
I had betrayed my wife.
I got off the sofa only to discover that Ada had already left. Why had I even bothered searching for her?
I really should have expected this.
I retrieved my phone immediately, dialing the number so I could hear a voice I longed to hear. I had been so focused on my mission I neglected the most important person to me.
Claire Redfield...the woman who was there in the beginning of this hellish nightmare. How could I have allowed this, Ada played me and I fell for it.
I heard the dial tone for about five times before the voice mails came on, Claire asking me to leave a message. I redialed, only to meet the same fate.
"Claire, I haven't been the best husband...screw that, I was just as bad at being a friend to you for years. What I'm trying to say I am sorry Claire, I'm sorry for not showing you how important you are to me. I'm going to meet with my team but as soon as you get this message please call me. We need to talk and I love you" in that not I ended the voice mail and the call.
When that call ended another one came in, me answering on the first ring.
"Kennedy here" I answered as I heard small shuffles, Hunnigan coming on moments after.
"Leon the hell where are you...you disappeared for hours!" She lectured as though I was a child who had ran away from home.
"I'm on my way back...is there a situation?" I asked, grabbing my clothing from the floor.
"Lets just say we are being called back home...our trial has died...Stanley and the others have found our guys and the case" She told me.
I stared, once again Ada had a motive and I was the mot drawn to her flame. Something tells this is far from over.
Leon has cheated and Claire is home awaiting his call. How will those game end guys?
