Avery's POV
Since it was Friday I was allowed to stay in the flat one more night so I could move everything in and get settled in over the weekend. I spent all my time in my room with Mona as we gossiped about celebrities, ate a ton of junk food, played an intense game of scrabble and watched movies.
It was nice spending time with my best friend in our room one last time. I'd miss this.
We were currently laying on the peach colored rug in the middle of our room. My feet were near her head and hers near mine.
"Are you nervous?" She asked me all of the sudden.
I freeze at the question but answer anyways. It might help. She could...prepare me for the move I guess.
"Yeah. I'm not good with new people." I really wasn't. When you got past my cold and bitchy shell, I was awkward. It was gross. Why couldn't I be a people pleaser like Mona?
"You're not good with people in general." she snorts. I pinch her foot and she squeals while pulling it away and cradling it in her hands.
"Do you find joy in my pain Avery?" She asks in a joking tone.
"Well duh." I say laughing. She laughs with me and groans as she tries to sit up. "Screw this." Mona says as she rolls on her stomach and uses her hands to push herself up.
"Weakling" I cough.
She kicks my side and I wince.
"Who's the weakling now."she says sticking her tongue out.
"Bitch." I say holding the spot she kicked me in.
"Thank you." She replies flipping her hair over her shoulder and smiling proudly.
"You wanna build a fort?" She asks after a minute of staring at my bed.
I smile widely. "What kinda question is that? Hell yeah I do."

I wake up the next morning to see Nora standing above me, holding a tray of food.
"Finally!" She shouts with a growing smile. "I didn't wanna wake you. You looked so peaceful. But the food was getting cold." She says staring down at the multiples plates with a frown.
She made me breakfast? Why?
"You..made me food?" I ask with shock evident in my voice.
Nora smiles at me as she sets the tray down next to me and motions for me to sit up.
"Well, yeah. I know you're leaving today so I thought I'd do something nice for you. I know we never talked much but you were nice. The other girls are so wrong about you Avery Carmichael." She says matter of factly.
Her words bring a genuine smile to my face. A small one but it's there.
"Thank You Nora. This..means a lot to me. Really."
She tucks a piece of her blonde hair behind her ear and blushes at the comment.
"No problem Avery." Nora stares at me for a minute before twisting on her heels and walking out shutting the door gently.
I hear shuffling to my left and look over to see Mona looking at me with a frown and her arms crossed over her chest.
"What?" I ask with a mouth full of the scrambled eggs that were on the plate.
"I don't like her anymore." Mona says with a pout on her thin lips.
I smirk at her and take a sip of the orange juice before asking "Are you jealous?" The playful smile returns.
