Avery's POV

I don't know how I got myself in this situation again. I'd figured after my last fight that it wouldn't happen. But people around here just still had to talk, didn't they?

Now I wasn't one to eavesdrop but when I heard Dawson's name I listened in. I mean who wouldn't?

He was my friend and Thomas here wasn't exactly known for saying good things about people.

All I needed to hear before I lifted my chair up and tossed it at him was 'Dawson' 'sister' 'all his fault' .

His story was a mess really. Thomas mentioned something about him showing up in the 10th grade but I knew Dawson started high school here like me.

He also said something about him coming from a big family but Dawson said he was an only child.

But I didn't care that he made up this stupid rumor. He was going around talking about someone I cared about. Whether or not the information was true or not didn't matter to me.

He was spreading his business around and I was not for it.

The chair hit from his abdomen upwards and I knew it'd leave a nasty bruise. But that's what I wanted.

"Obviously the message with Rosemary didn't get around well enough..." Thomas was staring at me with a burning hatred in his dull blue eyes.

"Don't talk shit or spread rumors about the people I care about. Can you not get that through your thick skull?" I point my finger at his head which I was sure was empty.

"It's not a rumor Avery." Thomas says slowly before he spits out my name as if it was acid in his mouth.

"We all know what he did. The son of a bitch killed her. Thats pretty public information."

"Most of the gossip around here is true anyways. You'd know, wouldn't you." The sickening smile on his face didn't make me feel much better but his busted lip did.

"What the fuck are you talking about?" I was genuinely curious what he meant by that though.

"You're screwing King. And like four of your other roommates." That didn't bother me much. I didn't care what people had to say about me. I cared about what people said about my friends. They came first. They were more important than me. Their happiness was more important than mine.

"I heard you gave the gay one a blow job."

I ignore his comment about me and focus on what he said about Callum. Were people questioning his sexuality? Did hey know? Oh fuck fuck fuck, this was a mess.

I walk out of class but not before flipping Thomas off.

First I'd focus on crushing those rumors about Dawson and Callum and then I'd focus on my revenge towards Thomas. He'd get what he deserved eventually.
***
If I'd learned one thing from the boys while living with them, it's that men get quite protective over their female friends and girlfriends. So I'd assumed the same went with family.

And that was exactly how I'd get back at Thomas.

Of course I'd never actually hurt someone who didn't deserve it. I wouldn't make anyone collateral damage.
