Christopher's POV:
I caressed her face and worked my hands down to her arms. I wrapped my arms around her body, drowning her in each one of my kisses as I heard her moan. Quickly I rolled her over so I was the one on top, holding her down. I was no longer embracing or kissing her. I held her arms down and made sure her legs were secure. She could tell what was coming from the seriousness in my face.
“I don’t know what you want from me, whether it’s the crown or for looks, but I do not give a damn. If you think I will choose any woman for the crown through seduction, I would have about fifty wives right now. The next time you come to the castle, it better not be to try this again, because no matter how many times you tempt me, it won’t work. The only thing you would be doing is embarrassing yourself.”
I released my hold of her body and straightened my clothes.
“By the time I come back here, I expect you to be back at your residence. Always a pleasure seeing you Lady Jamille.”
As I headed for the door, she defended herself one last time.
“Are you sure that girl can offer you what I can? I am a Cardinian; I know the status and traditions of our country. Better yet, I can give you the pleasures of a woman. Can that girl give you that?”
I turned to her and stared her down.
“Azalea gives me much more than you can offer. She gives me more pleasure than you can ever give me, so do not try to belittle her again, because it is worthless trying.”
After I closed the door of my room behind me, I heard her shriek with anger. I gave myself a little smile. I headed for the dining hall, straightening my hair on the way. The enormous room held an elongated table with my fiancé sitting at the end. Our eyes met and she quickly turned away from me. I strode down toward her and sat across from her. We sat and ate for a few quiet moments before she abruptly asserted something.
“You look awful today.”
“What did I do today that deserves that insult?”
“Wait,” she stuttered. “I didn’t mean to say that. You just don’t look good today.”
“Where is this leading?”
“Sorry, let me start over.” She put down her utensils. “I heard about your day. I just wanted to know if you were feeling fine.”
“This is the first time you have ever shown concern over my well being. Are you sure you’re feeling alright?”
Surprisingly, she started blushing and looked away from me as she struggled with her words.
“Well, you are going to be my husband. I should show some worry for you. After all, we are going to be spending the rest of our lives together.”
She quickly turned to me and added, “But this does not mean I will fall in love with you or anything!”
I smirked at her and replied.
“Of course not.”
After a brief pause I continued.
“I am fine. Today was not too bad in comparison to what I have been handling in this lifetime. The only thing that dampened my day was a run in with a rose with thorns.”
I felt her take my hands in hers as she inspected my hands. She asked me where I cut myself and I permitted myself a chuckle. I didn’t know she would take it seriously.
“You really do bring me more pleasure.” I laughed.
She looked at me confusingly but I ignored it and instead took her hand into mine. I kissed them gently and smiled at her blushing face. She murmured back a comment.
“There are no servants here; there is no reason for you to do this Christopher.”
“I know.”
