Azalea's POV:
Christopher pulled us apart enough to look me in the eyes. His emerald eyes felt piercing, as if staring into my soul, and made me feel embarrassed. His smile turned into that annoying yet adorable smirk of his.
“And what is this king of Cardinia like? I heard he’s very dashing."
I decided to play along.
“Oh, he is; he’s very handsome but his personality is not all that great. He always teases me, bothers me whenever I want peace, and sometimes he has a temper. He always tries to act nonchalant so I won’t notice his flaws, but I still notice."
“That is not true. I-"
I quickly quieted him with a peck on the lips.
“But I love him despite his few flaws."
His smirk grew wider.
“You call that a kiss?"
“Maybe you can show me a proper one then." I smiled.
“I would be happy to."
He caressed my face and then our faces naturally grew closer as our lips locked. My hands traveled into his hair as I rummaged my fingers through those golden strands. I felt Christopher’s hands travel down to my waist as he pulled me as close as he could. I thought it would feel awkward to have our bodies so close but it felt so right. I never felt such happiness. My confusion was gone and I enjoyed this sensation with the one I loved. I loved Christopher and I knew I would never feel this way with anyone else. There was so much passion and heat through this kiss that I felt like we were the only two in the world.
After what seemed like forever, we pulled apart. I felt my chest panting against his but soon I realized I still had my hands in his hair while his hands were still holding my waist. I unexpectedly became embarrassed and turned with my back to him. I placed my hands over my cheeks, feeling the heat warming my hands. With a pat on my head, he walked past me swiftly taking hold of my hand. As we walked together back to our room I heard him whisper.
“I will always protect and love you Azalea."
*********
“Azalea...cap...-ton…in?"
I stared at the page blankly, my mind somewhere else. A loud thud on the table woke me up from my trance as I looked to see what it was. Sir Hector slammed his hand on the table and looked at me straight in the eyes.
“Azalea, what is the capital of Kerton and what does Kerton specialize in?"
“Quesha is the capital and it excels in agriculture." I responded impulsively.
“Correct, now tell me about why your concentration skills are so lacking today."
I sighed.
“I..."
It was too embarrassing to tell your tutor that you simply wanted to go see your husband. Sir Hector seemed to be very clairvoyant for he knew exactly what was going on in my mind.
“I don’t understand why you two are so attached to each other lately, but since you are finished with today’s lesson, you may go see Christopher."
I tidied my work area and with a curtsy, ran to find Christopher.
I was told by one of the servants that he was at a council meeting; when I got there, I noticed no one left yet. The meeting was not adjourned yet so I walked around the area, waiting. As I wandered aimlessly, I heard a faint murmur. I followed the sound until I came to a small crack that full sized adults probably couldn’t fit through. Luckily, I was very petite, so I squeezed through. I followed the voices until I found a small vent where it escaped from. I pressed my ear next to the thin fissures of that vent to hear Christopher’s voice along with the other Cardinian lords.
