I came out of the shower fully dressed in sweats and a tee to see Rocky sitting on my bed watching TV.
“Hey, you’re out.” Rocky said, standing up and kissing my forehead.
“Hi,” I said confusingly. “What are you doing here?” I said. Rocky sighed.
“I wanna tell our parents tonight.” He said. I was startled.
“What?! Why tonight?! And how did you get into my house?” I shouted, towel drying my hair. Rocky gestured to sit down on my bed.
“Your sister let me in. She also told me she knows. The reason I’m here is because I can’t keep it a secret anymore. I told my parents that you invited us to dinner at your house. We’ll tell them then.” Rocky explained. I wanted to throw a brick at his face, but I held back my anger. Why now?
“Rocky, I don’t know. Now? Are you sure? I thought you wanted to wait until the right time.” I said. Rocky’s hand brushed against my cheek.
“I think now is the right time. I won’t do it, if you don’t agree though.” He said. I sighed. I was gonna have to face my family one day or another.
“Ok.” I breathed. “Let’s tell them tonight.” Rocky planted a kiss on my lips.
“They’re coming soon.”
“My mom isn’t even here, though.” I said. Just then I heard the front door open and slam shut.
“I’m home!”Tarashouted from downstairs.
“Perfect timing.” Rocky whispered. I threw my towel at his face. “What?” I laughed.
“Come on.” I said grabbing Rocky’s hand. I dragged him downstairs behind me and went into the living room where Tara, Matt, and Josie sat.
“Hi.” I said.
“Hi sweetheart. Hi Rocky.” Tara said, surfing the channels.
“Hi.” Rocky said back to her.
“What are you making for dinner?” I asked.
“Chicken, pasta and veggies. Why? You usually don’t ask what I’m making.” Tara said, not looking up from the TV.
“Um, I invited Rocky’s family over for dinner.” I said.
“What?! And now you tell me? I have to get ready and start cooking.” Tara sprang up from the couch and ran into the kitchen. “Marie! Where is my apron?” She yelled from the kitchen.
“It should be where you left it this morning!” I yelled back.
“Josie! Come here and help me! We have to get ready before our guests arrive!” Tara shouted to Josie. Josie sighed and got up from the couch. She gave me a ‘Why did you do that?’ look before retreating to the kitchen. I giggled. Tara always got like that when guests came over. I looked at Rocky who was smiling.
“Wanna watch TV?” I asked.
“Sure.” He answered. We both sat down on the couch, cuddling with each other while watching my favorite movie, ‘Clueless’.
