The day after, Rocky was released. The doctor said he was healing fast and he could go home. I went straight to his house to make sure he settled down ok. The doctor also said he had to rest for a couple of days, so I didn’t stay long. I told Rocky I’ll come and see him later and that I had a few things to do.
I drove straight home after that. I took a shower and opened up my closet to find some clothes for today’s hot whether. I pulled out an orange tee and some shorts. The shorts fit perfectly, but I had to struggle to put on the shirt. My baby bump was getting bigger so the shirt didn’t fit and I ended up putting on a summer dress. I slipped on a pair of Tom’s and grabbed my purse and my car keys. I also grabbed a recent magazine and a bottle of orange soda.
“Marie. Where are you going?” My dad asked as soon as I got downstairs.
“I have some things to do.” I said. My dad gave just looked at me before nodding. I guess he was trying to recoil our trust and relationship. I unlocked my car and climbed into the drivers seat. My phone rang.
“Hello?” I asked.
“Hey.” Nicole said.
“Hi.”
“What are you doing now? You wanna come over my place for a barbeque?” Nicole asked.
“Well right now, I have things to do. Is it alright if I come over later?”
“Sure. I’ll call you later.” Nicole said.
“Ok.” I said. I hung up and put the car in drive. Twenty minutes later, I pulled into the cemetery parking lot. I grabbed my bag of stuff and exited my car. I totally forgot to buy flowers, but luckily there was a guy outside the gate selling them. I bought a bunch and made my way to the back of the cemetery. I walked to the last tombstone that was underneath a cute tree. I plopped down on the grass.
“Hey mom.” I said to the stone. My mom’s name was engraved in the heart shaped stone. Sarah Marie Williams. Loving daughter, sister, wife and mother. I was happy to be named after her. “I’m pretty sure you already know what’s going on with me. Crazy right?” I said. I folded my legs underneath me and a tear escaped my eye. “I wish you were here. You would make everything better.” I wiped my eyes. I took the all the flowers except one and placed then in the little vase attached to the stone. “I miss you. I’ll see you soon.” I touched the tombstone and got up. I grabbed my stuff and made my way to a freshly placed tombstone.
Scarlet Thompson. Daughter, sister & friend. I crouched down and put the flower on the stone.
“Hey, Scar. I brought you some stuff.” I took out the magazine and the bottle of soda. I placed the magazine on the ground. There was a faint breeze and the magazine flipped open to a Justin Bieber article. Scarlet’s favorite celebrity. She loved reading articles about Justin Bieber with me. “I knew you would like it.” I laughed. I unscrewed the cap on the orange soda, Scarlet’s favorite drink, and put it on the ground as well. “I also got you some soda, if you want.” I said. The bottle tipped over and the ground soaked up the liquid.
“You might not think its true, but I miss you.” I said. “I’m sorry for anything I’ve done to hurt you and I forgive you for what you did to me and Nicole. You still are my friend, you have always been.” And with that I got up and made my way back to my car. I called Nicole.
“Hello?” She answered.
“Hey, I’m coming over now.”
