I woke up the next morning to loud knocking on my door. I groaned and slowly opened my eyes. W...what? Why am I on the floor? I then remembered what had happened the night before. Levi & I had talked and I guess I eventually cried myself to sleep here.
"Emma? Are you in here?" A voice said from the other side of the door. Jake? "Emma are you awake?"
"Oh, um... yeah! Just give me a second!" I said and ran to the bathroom. My eyes were a tiny bit swollen but it was barely even noticeable. I patted down my hair and then rushed to open the door. "Hey, Jake."
"Hey Emma-" He stopped and looked at me with a confused face. "Why are you still in your clothes from yesterday? They put some clothes on your bed." I turned around and sure enough saw a few outfits on my bed, one of them being a set of pajamas.
"Oh, I... guess I just didn't know what they were for." I nervously laughed.
"How do you not- You know what, nevermind. Just get dressed. It's time for breakfast." Jake said and shut the door. I went over to my bed and put on an outfit consisting of white jeans, a white button-up shirt and boots. It was basically the Survey Corps uniform without the jacket, belts, and skirt thing. I went out of my room and Jake was standing against the wall. "Are you ready?" He asked. I nodded and we made our way to the mess hall.
It was bustling with all of the soldiers. "Emma! Jake! Over here!" We heard a voice call out to us. We turned and saw Hanji waving us over. We went to get our food and sit at the table where she and the other higher-ups were. "Sit, sit!"
There were two seats still open. Jake took the one at the end of the table so I took the one beside it. Jake was on my right and guess who was on my left. Levi.
We started to eat while Hanji rambled on about her experiments with Erwin nodding and murmuring an "oh really?" every now and then. They're such a cute couple.
I looked to my right and Jake was talking to Mike. On my left Levi was silently eating his food. "Hey, Levi." I said to him, successfully not stuttering.
"You were late to breakfast." He replied plainly.
"Oh, um... sorry about that." I nervously laughed again.
"Tch." He commented and turned away from me. I frowned. I still want to be friends with you.
"Oh, right. I have the schedule for you two." Erwin said to me and Jake. "Today will start your training." Training?! Like... to kill titans?
"You can't possibly be thinking of making them soldiers, Erwin." Levi grumbled.
"Well we don't really need any help around HQ, so why not." Erwin said.
"I think Levi's right, Erwin." Hanji said. "They have people in their world that they need to make it back to safely. We shouldn't put them in that kind of danger."
"That's why I'm putting them in Levi's squad. Then they'll be able to fight in that kind of danger." Erwin said.
"You're what?!" Levi asked harshly, not seeming too keen on the idea.
"We'll be on the same squad. That's great, Emma." Jake smiled at me and held my hand. I mustered a smile.
"Yeah." I replied.
"Tch." Levi said and left the mess hall. He seemed upset but I couldn't blame him. After last night he probably doesn't want to see me very much.
I, however, want this opportunity to be close to him. If we can't be in a relationship then I at least want to be friends.
"Today we'll start training with the 3DMG after breakfast." Erwin said. We nodded and settled back down.
I couldn't eat much after that so I stood up to go dump my tray. "Where are you going?" Jake asked.
"To the restroom." I lied and went to dump my tray and quickly leave the mess hall.
I have to go see him.
