Chapter 9 ~ Jealousy

Jake's POV

I woke up the next morning, content with what had happened the previous evening. Emma was mine, not... his. I don't know why she ever dated him.

I got up out of bed to brush my hair and my teeth. I then got dressed and headed to Emma's room. "Emma, are you up?" I called through the door.

"Good morning." She opened the door and yawned. How cute.

"Good morning." I smiled and kissed her on the forehead. "Ready for breakfast?" She nodded and we walked to the mess hall hand-in-hand.

We sat with the 104th again to avoid any drama at the superiors' table. "Good morning, Emma, Jake." Armin greeted us.

"Good morning." Emma smiled.

"Did you guys here what's going on today?" Eren asked. Everybody shook their heads. "Apparently we only have training until lunch time and then we have the rest of the day to do whatever we want."

"Woohoo!" Sasha said. "We should all go into town!"

"Great idea!" Connie said and they high-fived.

"Do you guys want to come? We can show you around." Eren asked me and Emma.

"Sure, we'd love to." Emma said and looked at me excited. I smiled at her but noticed Captain Shorty behind her at his table staring at her.

"Yeah, we'd love to." I said and gave Emma a quick peck on the lips. I looked over to Levi and sent a smirk his way. He glared at me and continued to eat his breakfast.

Time skip

Emma's POV

Something weird is going on today. Levi and Hanji's squads had a combined practice today so Levi, Jake and I were all stuck together. Every time Levi was around, Jake would always at least pull me close to him or kiss me. I guess he thought that I wouldn't notice what he was doing. He was trying to make Levi jealous. But why? What's gotten into him? This isn't the Jake I know.

Time skip

It was now after lunch and we were all getting ready to go into town. Erwin had assigned both me & Jake our own horses, probably for expeditions. That was a scary thing to think about.

"Hey babe, ready to go?" Jake said to me in the stable and kissed the side of my head.

"Yeah." I said and took a deep breath. "But we need to talk first."

"Okay, what is it?" He asked and pulled me close by my next waist. I sighed and removed myself from him.

"All today you've been trying to make Levi jealous. Every time he's around you always get really close to me or kiss me. Why is that? You're not being yourself, Jake." I told him. He looked down.

"I just want him to know you're mine." He said and I could tell he was telling the truth. "He still has feelings for you, Emma, and I don't want you to leave me."

"Jake, I'm not going to leave you." I cupped one side of his face. "I'm with you now, do you trust me?"

"Of course I do." He said.

"Good." I leaned up and gave him a quick kiss on his lips. "I love you and only you." I told him. I felt a bit bad about saying that because I still felt a little twinge in my heart about Levi that I had yet to figure out, but I knew that I wasn't in love with him anymore. I was in love with Jake and upon hearing this, he smiled.

"I love you, too." He said.

"Good, then let's go into town." I said and we got on our horses.

Levi's POV

I stood beside the stable door listening to everything between Levi and Emma. She doesn't love me anymore... I already knew that from when we talked the other night, but it still killed me to hear her say it again.

I sighed and walked back into headquarters.

Emma's POV

The 104th were more than happy to show us around town. It was nice seeing how everything was here. Everybody looked a lot more happy and care-free, probably because they're not constantly on their phones and whatnot like people of my world.

We spent the whole afternoon in town and returned to headquarters around nightfall. We put our horses in the stable and Jake walked me to my room.

"I'm really sorry about today." He said sincerely. "I do trust you, but I just love you so much."

"It's okay, Jake. It honestly is." I told him. "Just please try to get along with Levi. I don't like seeing you guys fight."

"I know." He nodded. "I'll see you tomorrow. I love you."

"I love you, too." I said and we exchanged a kiss before I headed into my room to retire for the night.
