Love Story [COMPLETED]

Chapter One ~ Skiing Party

I woke up suddenly, I was in a bed. I looked around, confused. Then I remembered. I was exhausted from the long drive so I came in here to rest. I got up and walked out, going downstairs. Almost everyone was already passed out drunk.

Oh brother! I thought we were going to have a weekend of skiing, not partying! I thought, annoyed. I heard something and looked outside, someone, or something, ran past the window. I got freaked out and went back upstairs.

I heard talking coming from one of the bedrooms. When I walked up and peeked in, there was my younger sister, Mindy, and Blake, her secret crush. It looked like he was about to seduce her or something. But the thing I noticed was a video camera, sitting on the dresser. It was on.

"Blake!!! What's wrong with you??" I cried, bursting into the room and grabbing the camera. When Mindy saw it, she gasped and ran out.

"We're just playing a little practical joke." Blake said, smirking.

"Knock it off, that's not a practical joke! What were you going to do, upload it on the internet?" I asked, disgusted. Just then Kris came out of the closet. I stared at him, surprised that he was there.

"Rae! I didn't know they were trying to record it! I knew nothing!" He said, grabbing my arms.

"Kris, that was your idea in the first place." Erica said, unfortunately I didn't see the nasty grin on her face.

"What? Kris, how could you?" I asked, jerking my arms away from him.

"No, Rae, I didn't know! I had nothing to do with it!" He cried, reaching for my arms again.

"Get away from me, Kris!" I said, a little too harshly. Kris looked dismayed, and before he had a chance to say anything else, I ran out to look for Mindy.

"Just let her go, Kris. She's too good for you anyways!" I heard Erica say, annoyed. I ran outside, where'd Mindy go?

"Mindy? Mindy!!" I yelled, running into the woods. It didn't take me long to find her, she was near the edge of the cliff.

"Mindy!" I said, running over to her.

"Rae, I feel so stupid! I really thought Blake liked me!" She cried, I gave her a hug.

"Just ignore him, and Erica! They don't realize that their pranks can hurt sometimes!" I said, she nodded. "Come on, let's go back!" We started back when we heard something, it sounded like a figure running towards us. We both started running back towards the cabin.

We heard it get closer, we both screamed when suddenly someone said, "hey! Rae! Mindy! It's me!!"

"Michael!!" I cried, throwing my arms around his neck. Mindy hugged him too.

"Are you girls ok?" He asked us, looking concerned. I nodded.

"Yeah, we're fine!" I said. Michael smiled and brought us back. When we got inside, Toby was busy yelling at Blake for what he did to Mindy.

"Toby, I'm fine!" She said, crossing her arms and glaring at Blake.

"Oh, come on Mindy! It was a joke!" He said, giving her a smile. Mindy stayed strong.

"Some joke. Get away from me, jerk!" She snapped, and with that, she marched upstairs. I walked into the kitchen to get a snack, but Kris was in there. I turned to go out but he saw me.

"Rae, wait!" He said, taking my hand in his. "Please believe me, I honestly didn't know about the camera!"

"Why were you in there in the first place?" I asked him, looking him in the eyes.

"I just thought he would tease her, I didn't know he would actually try anything!" Kris said, pleadingly. I rolled my eyes.

"I wish I believed you, Kris. I really do!" I said, pulling my hands away. "But everything you're saying sounds like a lie!" 

I turned and walked out, leaving a very sad and heartbroken Kris. I stopped in the hallway though, one thing I would never admit to anyone, was that I was in love with Kris, I always had been! It took everything in me to hide it from him, but so far, I was successful.

"Why are you even trying to get her? She doesn't seem interested!" I heard Erica say.

"Get away from me! Why'd you tell her that the camera was my idea? I didn't even know about it!" Kris snapped, getting angry.

"Because maybe I'm sick of her being so popular! Maybe I wanted to make her hate you!" Erica snapped back.

"Why would you do that?! How is it any of your business?" Kris shot back, "don't assume what's best for me or her! Besides, I thought she was your friend!"

"I can do whatever I want!" She retorted, "she is my friend, but she and her whole family are such goody tooshoos it drives me crazy sometimes!" She added, turning to leave. But I was already back in the kitchen.

"Erica! Stay out of my business!" I nearly growled, Erica looked at me, surprised.

"I was trying to help you!" She said, I rolled my eyes.

"Thanks, but I don't need your help!" I said.

"You know what? Fine! Whatever!" Erica snapped, walking out. I rolled my eyes. I turned to go out, but Kris' voice stopped me.

"I want you to know that I love you! I would never do anything to hurt you or your family! I just want you to be mine!" He said softly, before I could run out, I felt his arms circle my waist and he pulled me close in a tight hug.

If my back wasn't turned to him then he'd surely see my blush. He held me for a while, it felt like a long time. He nuzzled my neck and lightly kissed my cheek. I internally started to freak out, knowing that my feelings for him would show if he kept it up.

"Please be mine! I'd do anything for you!" He whispered into my neck.

Before I could respond, we heard Toby and Michael talking, they were coming towards the kitchen. I quickly made my escape and ran to my room. I quickly shut the door and leaned against it, filled with excitement and panic. Did he know? Did he suspect? I was terrified, I locked the door and crawled into bed next to Mindy, where I wrapped myself up in the blankets. After a long time, I fell asleep. My last thought before drifting off was of Kris, telling me that he loved me. And I clearly saw the hurt and heartbreak on his face when I rejected him.
