Chapter Four ~ My Girl

When we got back to the cabin, we heard shouting and screaming coming from inside.

"What the heck?" Tao said, opening the door. As soon as he did, a huge bat flew towards us. I screamed and dodged it, with Tao right behind me. We watched as it flew away into the woods.

"Tao, Rae!! Are you guys ok??" Toby asked, running over to us.

"Yes!" I said, as Tao helped me up. I then realized that I had banged my knee. Hard. I winced in pain as I tried to walk, but Tao immediately helped me, placing his arm around my waist.

"Thanks!" I said, smiling at him. He smiled back and gently kissed my cheek. Toby gave me a look, but I purposely avoided eye contact with him.  I knew what he was going to say! When we got inside, everyone seemed to be trying to recover. When Mindy saw me, she ran and got an ice pack.

"How'd that thing even get in??" Tao asked, as he helped me onto the couch.

"I don't know, man! It just flew in through the chimney!" Dex said, as he helped his girlfriend Lydia up.

"Oohhh, I hate bats!" Lydia cringed, holding on to Dex tighter.

"Don't worry, it's gone now!" Dex assured her, giving her a hug. She smiled at him sweetly.

"Get a room, you guys! Besides, I think Tao and Rae are an item." Michael said, giving me a mischievous grin.

Before I could say anything, Tao said, "yes we are, so don't go near her!"

It was then that I noticed he was looking at Kris when he said that. Kris just glared at him.

"Uh oh! Is there tenseness happening here? Kris wants to steal Tao's girl?" Blake laughed, clearly amused by the whole thing. I just rolled my eyes.

"Go away, Blake!" I retorted, leaning my head against Tao's shoulder. Blake just laughed, and nudged Kris when he walked past him. Kris just glared at his retreating back. I didn't make eye contact with him, I couldn't.

After we ate dinner we sat near the fireplace and played games. I noticed that Toby took Tao aside, probably to give him the "if you hurt my sister I'll kill you" talk. I rolled my eyes, he was so overprotective! I got up to go to the kitchen to get a snack, and noticed that Kris had followed me in.

"Kris! What do you want?" I asked him. He just looked at me for a long time. Then, before I could move, he kissed me. It was soft and sweet, and very passionate. I was speechless, I couldn't move. Then I realized that I was kissing him back. I freaked out and broke away from him.

"Rae..." He started, but I was already retreating.

"Don't go near me! Leave me alone! Don't ever do that again!" I cried, running out. It was my turn to run away. I ran away fast, deep into the woods. I didn't know where I was going but I wanted to get away.

"Rae!!!!! Rae!!!!!" I heard Mindy yell, she was running after me. I finally stopped because I was out of breath. Mindy ran up to me.

"Are you ok?" She asked.

"Minds, he kissed me! I kissed him back!!! I have a boyfriend!!! Why did I kiss him?!" I cried, tears starting to roll down my face. Mindy hugged me tightly.

"It's ok! It's ok! We'll figure it out! Could it be that you love Kris too?" She asked me.

"But, I love Tao!" I cried, covering my face.

"I know, but you do have a thing for Kris too." She said. I gasped.

"Is it obvious?" I asked, starting to freak out even more.

"Only to Toby and I!" Mindy assured, I nodded. "Let's go back before Toby freaks out."

"Mindy, please don't tell anyone about my feelings for Kris!" I asked her. She smiled.

"Your secret is safe with me!" She assured me.

I nodded again. We trudged back through the snow, and when we got back to the cabin, Tao was threatening to kill Kris.

"Tao!" I said, when I walked in. As soon as he heard me, he immediately ran over to me and put his arms around me.

"Don't you ever go near her again!" He growled at Kris, then he led me upstairs.
