Chapter 20

"So I worked with Sam the other night and brought up Travis. She is completely behind us, we ended up talking for hours," Dana says as we walk into another store.

We were shopping for Christmas since it was only a few days away. With everything going on I nearly forgot about the holiday.

"What did he do to her?" I ask cautiously.

Dana frowns. "It was kind of like what he would do to you: the inappropriate comments and uncomfortable touches. She said it stopped though when he found out she had a kid."

I nod with a grimace. "Same with Jasmine, except he did try to go further one night when she was in the kitchen alone. She hit him with a frying pan and made a run for it. She says he hasn't tried anything since, but will still make comments at her. Saying things like when he becomes CEO she won't get away."

I met up with Jasmine the night after Dana and I talked. We had our usual midnight snack, but in my room and talked a little before I brought up the topic of him. Almost immediately she had started to cry. I wasn't the only one bottling things up, she hadn't told anyone after Mr. Townes brushed her off. One thing that surprised me though was that she said she went to get the video footage of the kitchen that night, she is apparently good friends with one of our security guards. She didn't want him to get away with it and vowed to herself that she'd use it against him when he became CEO as blackmail to leave her alone.

"Fuck Cali, this is so fucked up," Dana sighs. "Is Jasmine with us though?"

"One hundred percent," I answer with the same response she gave me when I asked her if she'd back us up.

"Genie and Sarah are going to meet us at the diner at two," Dana says. I could hear the nerves in her voice, the both of us were nervous about talking to them. Sarah being seventeen could be a huge help in our case since she's underage, but we would never pressure her to be a part of this. And we're sure Genie has no idea so it's going to be hard to talk about.

Dana's phone goes off. "Is that Link again?" I ask. Since what happened at Link's apartment, Dana has been trying to avoid him, but once we decided to put up a fight against him, she has cut off all communication with Link. She says she has no idea if Link knows what he has been up to, but they're best friends and she can't deal with that.

"I can't talk to him Cal, what if he does know and has been covering for Travis? I can't trust someone who is best friends with a man who has sexually harassed and raped women," Dana answers firmly. I know this hurts her, despite the cold front she puts up. She really liked Link.

"I get it," I tell her lightly. I am curious though what Link does and doesn't know. I mean this is a man that my best friend started to fall for, so unless she has awful judgment I can't help but wonder if he's as oblivious to him as everyone else...

TRENT'S POV

"So do you think we have a case?" I ask Ollie. No, unlike the stereotype Dana believed my friends and I to fall under, we are not all tattooed college dropouts who smoke and drink everyday. I am running to be CEO of a huge hotel chain, Jake is a police officer, and my other best friend Ollie is one of the best lawyers in the state.

Oliver Anderson may be a six-foot, tattooed man with several piercings and long blonde hair, but he was a damn good lawyer. He of course took out his piercings and covered his tattoos with a suit and tie, but whenever we hang out at bars and clubs my best friend's true image comes out.

"It's going to be tough with the lack of evidence, but I think maybe if you have enough people sharing their stories as well as the small amount of evidence you can sway the jury," Ollie tells me honestly.
