A Pleasant Change In Company

I look up at the spiral staircase. "What story do you live on?" Please not penthouse, please not penthouse.

"Penthouse," Ugh.

"Is there a elevator or something, may I remind you I have human legs." He releases a puff of laughter.

"Elevator broke a few weeks ago, maintenence are on it." He looks at me and grins.

"What?" His smile widens.

"There's another way," Realisation hits me like a truck, I swiftly back away. "Come on, it will be fun." I widen my eyes at him. "I'm betting that the only time you've been carried by a vampire is when you're either in eminent danger or knocked out."

"Thats actually true." I laugh. He walks towards me and lifts me into his arms. We are off.
It feels like I'm skydiving. A rush of air hits my face and stops as soon as it touches it. We are already at the top.
I raise my eyebrows at him. "Efficient." He chuckles and reaches into his pocket. I peer over the banister and down into the abyss of stairs. It creeks and I back away from it as fast as I can on my human legs. I turn round to Marcel, he pushes the door open and beckons me through.
"Woah," Big windows let us have a panoramic view of the city. Couches with blankets and pillows. A kitchen filled with food. It feels like a home, not a compound.

"You like?" I nod at him, yes I very much do. I slip off my shoes and leave them by the door. Something about the pristine white rug makes me think I shouldn't walk over it with dirty shoes. "Bedrooms are upstairs. Pick what one you want." Right of course, because there is more than one room.
I walk past the fireplace and go up the brass stairway. I enter the first room I see, it is scattered with clothes and books, and unmade bed and a glass of water beside it. It seems someone already lives in this one. I enter the roon next to it. Wow. Big open plan, a king sized bed, a birch wardrobe and desk. A comfy sofa facing the wonderful view. I walk towards the bed and put my stuff down. I notice a remote on the bedside table, but no t.v to be seen. I push the first button I see. Nothing. Then a quit wirring sound. I look around.

"No way!" A plasma screen T.V is slowly descending from the ceiling. Holy moly. I press the next button and it turns on the aircon. Oh well.

"Is this the one?" Marcel leans on the doorframe, he reminds me of Klaus and suddenly I get a pang in my chest.

"I think so." He smiles.

"Alright I'll let you get settled. What do you want for lunch?" Mhmm lunch. I haven't even had breakfast.

"Maybe we could go out?" He looks at me and sighs.

"Cami, you know we can't. I'm sorry but its the way it has to be." I sigh. Oh well it was worth a shot.

"Fine. Then how about some pizza?"
He grins.

"We can do pizza. I'll yell when the delivery gets here."

"Wow, I can't even be trusted alone for 20 minutes."

He chuckles. "Quite the opposite, I trust that you wouldn't leave by yourself. I'm just too lazy."

"And why exactly are you so certain I wouldn't leave."

"Because no matter how much you want to be free, you are scared. You know that Klaus wouldn't take all these desperate measures to keep you safe if there wasn't a threat." He walks out of the room and leaves me flabberghasted.
Am I scared?
