"Cami wait!" I turn around to see Marcel zoom up towards me. I tilt my head to the side and frown.
"Marcel. What is it?" He smiles softly. I can't help feeling less angry at everything. Marcel seemed so shocked that they hadn't told me, maybe he will.
"Stay with me." It takes me a while to register what he said.
"What?"
"At my compound, you'll be safe and you'll have people there that aren't the Mikaelsons." It sounds tempting.
"It won't make me any less confined." He pauses.
"Yes that is true but you will have more space and a better view." I recall his tall building overlooking the city. Plus it will be nice to get away from the Mikaleson's even if the company will be there adopted family.
"Okay then. Offer accepted." I smile and so does he. "Just let me grab my stuff from upstairs."
"I can if you want? It will be quicker."
"Okay, thanks." He smiles and zooms back into the compound.
...
Klaus' POV
I look over at Rebeka. "Are you really okay with this, her leaving." She asks me. I chuckle.
"No I'm bloody well not, but I have to respect her decision." She raises her eyebrows at me.
"You've changed you know, usually you would go into a rage, kill some people, but here you are. Accepting it." She smiles.
"I have a good therapist." She laughs. "Also it won't be that different, she lives a two-minute walk away, we can get there in a few seconds." I shrug. Marcel zooms past the open door and up the stairs. rebekah and I look at each other and zoom after him. "What are you doing?"
"Grabbing Cami's things, she's staying with me for a bit." I cough.
"...What?" He looks at me confused.
"At my compound." I raise my eyebrows.
"I thought Camille wanted time alone?" He raises an eyebrow.
"Yeah, from you guys." I narrow my eyes at him. "I would've thought you would be happy Klaus." I shake my head in disbelief, why would I be happy. "She will remain safe still and only a few minutes away." I raise my hands in submission.
"Alright, I suppose you and Camille have gotten on well in the past." He glares at me, he knows I am referring to the two of them's night together. I zoom back down the stairs before further discussion of the event. I see Camille standing in the courtyard. She fiddles with her blonde hair. "Camille." She looks up at me, I can't read her expression. Its closed off.
"Yes, Klaus?" Her tone is cold. Maybe I've misjudged how angry she really is with me.
"I-" My voice cracks, I cough to cover it up. A hint of a smile plays at her lips.
"Stuttering? Wow. That's something I never thought you would do." A statement that would be used in banter, lacks the light-heartedness of our play fights. I stiffen.
"I was just going to say goodbye." She widens her eyes, perhaps she expected something else from me, a last-ditch effort to get her to change her mind. Marcel appears by my shoulder carrying a duffel bag.
"You ready to go."
"Are we done here?" I take in my breathe.
"Yes we ar-" She grabs the bag of Marcel.
"Okay then, let's go, Marcel." She walks away. Marcel pats my shoulder, I brush him off.
"I'll take care of her Klaus." I manage a smile, I don't doubt that he will. He runs to catch up with her. When they are out of sight a cold hand creeps into my chest and a pit forms in my stomach. I look back at the compound. It seems emptier.
