It was a cool night on Dragon's Edge. Astrid had asked Hiccup to meet her at her hut. Did Hiccup know why? Nope, and once he found out, he regret agreeing.

Astrid was trying out some new recipes that she really wanted Hiccup to try it. She had decided to make chicken with a special sauce.

Hiccup was walking towards Astrid's hut, wondering what she had planned. When he walked in he was immediately welcomed by a foul smell.

"Astrid?" he asked. He saw the blonde beauty come from somewhere in her hut.

"Hey Hiccup! I'm glad you came. I wanted you to be the first to try this new recipe that I came up with," she looked so excited Hiccup couldn't deny her. No matter how badly her food smelt.

"Oh um of course I'll try it," Hiccup stuttered. Astrid didn't notice, being to excited to have Hiccup try it.

"Um so what is this new recipe?" Hiccup asks nervously. Astrid still not noticing how hesitant Hiccup is

"It's a surprise. I'll tell you after you try it," Astrid yells from the other room. She suddenly appeared holding a plate of.... food? Could this even be considered food? No not really.

"Ok eat up," Astrid sat across from Hiccup, shaking from excitement.

"Oh actually you know what? I forgot I ate earlier and I'm not that hungry," Hiccup said nervously.

"Oh trust me once you try this you'll get your appetite back. You'll even want seconds. Good think I made extra," Astrid tried to reassure Hiccup. He kinda just pushed the food around for a little. Trying to reassure himself that it wasn't as bad as it smelled.

"Come on Hicc, I'm dying from anticipation. I've really been working on my cooking," Hiccup slowly slowly took a bite. As soon as he did, he regret it. It tasted WAY WORSE than it smelt. He tried his best not to spit it out right there. He swallowed roughly and looked back at Astrid.

"So how does it taste??" Hiccup couldn't tell her that it tasted it awful. She seemed really excited about cooking for him and he couldn't break her heart like that.

"It was..." repulsive, horrible, disgusting, unpleasant, nasty, there were too many different adjectives for bad that couldn't even describe how terrible this 'dish' was, "...great," As her face brightened, Hiccup knew it was worth eating his meal even if it meant he was gonna have to puke his guts out later that night.

"I'm so glad you think so," Astrid said excitedly. He continued to eat and it felt like hours until he was finally finished. His stomach was tossing and turning and he was trying so hard not to throw up right there.

"Do you want seconds? I have more than enough" Astrid asked.

"No thank you. That dinner made me really full. I was actually wondering what your dish was," Hiccup really needed to get out of there before he actually barfed.

"Oh ya it was chicken with a secret sauce, but don't ask what the sauce is because like I said it's a secret," Hiccup actually didn't want to know what was in it. Thinking about more food made him feel worse.

"Um so I should start heading to bed. It's getting late and you should get some rest," Hiccup said, trying to get out of her hut.

"Ok goodnight Hiccup. Thank you for trying my food. I'll see you tomorrow," Astrid gave Hiccup and quick hug and he walked, well more like sped walked, back to his hut.

Throughout the night Hiccup throwing up the contents in his stomach. After a while he started dry heaving, which only made things worse. Toothless stayed up for part of the night trying to comfort his rider, but Hiccup reassured him that he was alright and his dragon went to sleep. Hiccup tried to fall asleep, but he just kept tossing and turning. By the time he was supposed to get up he had just fallen asleep. Toothless didn't bother waking him up, knowing he was throwing up for at least half the night.

Everyone was at the Clubhouse waiting for Hiccup to show up so they could eat and start their training.

"Ugh where is he?" Snotlout complained.

"Let's just wait a little longer, Hiccup doesn't normally get up this late. He might just be on a flight with Toothless," Fishlegs adds.

It was getting close to noon and Hiccup still hadn't shown up and they were starting to get worried. Especially Astrid.

"Maybe we should go looking for him?" Fishlegs asked. Astrid nodded.

"I mean it's Hiccup. How much trouble could he be in?" Tuffnutt asked.

"Let's just go check his hut," Astrid said. They all agreed and walked over to Hiccups hut.

"Hiccup?" Astrid asked. Nothing. They climbed up the stairs to his loft, and surprisingly found Toothless laying on his slab. They saw a lump on the bed, obviously Hiccup. The blanket was pulled up almost covering his head.

"Hiccup," Fishlegs asked nervously. They all walked closer to the bed. Astrid shook Hiccup, who in response groaned.

"Hiccup, what's wrong?" Astrid asked, Hiccup just groaned again. "You don't look so good H," Tuffnutt added from the background.

Astrid placed her hand on her forehead. He leaned into her cold hand. She gasped at how hot he was.

"He's got a fever," Astrid confirmed to her friends. He slowly opened his eyes as Astrid gave out jobs to help Hiccup.

"A-astrid?"

"It's me Hicc. What happened you were fine last night?" Hiccup knew there was no way out of this and she would be able to tell if he was lying so he told her the truth.

"I think you gave me food poisoning. I don't think you fully cooked the chicken,"

"Wow Astrid we knew your cooking was bad, but not this bad," Ruffnutt added as her and Tuffnutt returned with one empty bucket and one bucket filled with cold water. Astrid glared back at her.

"Why didn't you tell me that it was bad?"

"Because you looked so happy when you thought I liked it," that instantly made Astrid blush and smile. She grabbed a rag and soaked it into the cold water and placed it on his forehead.

"That's really sweet of you Hiccup, but next time just tell me. Well right now do you want any soup or anything?"

"Not if it's made by you," you could hear the twins chuckling in the background.

"Fishlegs is already making it,"

"I don't think my stomach is ready for food,"

"ok then just go back to sleep," he slowly closed his eyes and his breathing evened out.

A few days later, Hiccup was back to normal. Him and Astrid were just sitting on a cliff enjoying the view of the sunset.

"You know you really didn't have to lie to me about my cooking," Astrid spoke up.

"It was worth seeing you so excited," Astrid instantly punched his shoulder.

"That was for not telling me," Hiccup, knowing what she was going to do next, cut her off with a kiss

"And that was for everything else," he finished after they pulled away.

"Hey that's my line,"

"Maybe you shouldn't be so slow m'lady," before she could respond, Hiccup pulled her in for another kiss.

When they pulled away Astrid added, "I think I'll just stick to yaknog for now," Hiccup instantly paled.

"Umm Astrid about that," Hiccup started while scratching his neck nervously, "Your yaknog isn't good either," she punched him one more time.

"Find I'll stop cooking, now come here you dork," They kissed one last time before falling asleep in each others arms.
