Chapter 15: Before the night
Alex POV
'Lexi!' Bea called behind me. Bea is calling me Lexi unlike Al or Lex because she is used to calling names with two syllables. She also has a lot of friends that has the similar name as mine, such as Alex or Xandra so she recognize me as Lexi instead. Not that I mind.
'Huh?' I replied. She was walking ahead of me and I fell back because I saw a shop that sells earrings and necklaces, I wanted to change my pair of plain boring ones.
'How 'bout this store?' Bea said as I looked back at her, my eyes leaving the glass display of the earrings. She is pointing to a store with displays of cute pastel dresses. Girly dresses, my type of style. Not that I'm too girly. They're just too cute and I'm tiny- my tall petite body figure is inherited from my mom while my dad is big boned. And I don't think mature and revealing dresses would suit me, Bea agrees.
I told Bea earlier what my main target of dresses, so it will be easier to find one. But despite that, most dresses we came across with is either too short, too casual or overly girly. Finding the perfect dress is never easy.
'Okay!' I chirped, walking backwards and followed her into the shop called Colleen's. It is now the fourth store we went in to.
Bea approached the first rack of cocktail party dresses she sees. I decided to just walk around the shop and see if anything catches my eye.
I hummed the classic 'A dream is wish your heart makes' song from Cinderella while looking around.
At nearby rack, a dress did catch my eye. I grabbed it and went in the dressing room right away. 'I'll be at the dressing room, Bea.'
I quickly stripped off all my clothes and wore the dress. As I finished tying the corset strings into ribbons at the back, I turned around to look at the mirror.
It is in a sweetheart neck corset and the top is all covered by glitter except the corset straps in light pink. The bottom part is a flowy pastel pink dress that stops midway my thighs plus It fits perfectly on me.
I just need to ask Bea for confirmation. I was just walking out the dressing room to the showing/waiting area and find Bea until she walked in.
'I got you all these cute dresses-' she was talking so fast, holding all the dresses both on her arm and stopped she looked up. I swear there's a bit of Italian accent when she speaks fast. I laughed.
'That looks cuter, Lexi. That's perfect!' she said, placing all the dresses on the chairs. I'm not going to check anymore, this looks perfect enough. I don't want to have to choose, it will be tough. I know it.
'Thanks!' I spun around the mirror to take a better look of it. I love it.
'I'll just change back.' I quickly and carefully changed out of the dress and went out to meet Bea.
'You just saved yourself from having to change so much.' she looped an arm on my shoulders, pulling me closer.
'I know right? Glad I didn't have to.' I'm actually really relieved at that.
'Yep.' she said, popping the 'P'. 'Now it's time to get you some heels.' she snapped her fingers.
We walked over to the footwear part of the store and continued to hunt for another part of my clothing for the dance. It's like shoe heaven in here. There are shelves of different types and colours of footwear.
'This. It goes well to your dress.' she showed me a pair of heels that is at least less than eight inches high and it is plain pastel pink like my dress.
