Could this day be any more boring? I flip through the channels and don't see anything interesting. It is a Friday night and I am home alone.
My parents went to a party and will be home very late. I have 2 sisters on the other side of the country starting their lives already.
Murry is 24, has her own bakeshop, and lives with her fiancé.
Anne is 22 and started her first Job in an accounting firm and dating someone from work.
I, on the other hand, am 17 and still living with my parents as the law won't allow me to have my own place yet. And did I mention I'm single?
Yeah, I am pretty, I know that for sure coz my Mom never fails to tell me every day. Like she's assuring me that someone will come along or something. I mean, I'm not in a hurry, I'm only 17 and I like being single. Errrr lie!
The truth is, I'm confused, sexually. When I was like, 14, 15 I used to gush over some guys in my school, like you know, a typical teenager who has a crush on the most popular guy in school. But that was until I met Kate, she was a transferee, and literally no friends.
She's very pretty, with dirty blonde hair that is always braided on her left shoulder, leaving some strands on the other side that make her look so innocent, her blue eyes that melt me every time she looks at me, and her lips, I always wonder how it tastes until that drunken night, when I confess everything to her, that I like her so much it kills me seeing her with other guys she's dating then I did it, I kissed her. Her lips were so soft and so sweet, that I suddenly felt sober because of that kiss, the place stopped spinning and I swear, time literally stopped. Then I felt her push me, I swear I could see the hatred and disgust in her eyes before she left.
After that incident, she never spoke to me, I begged her for months for us to talk about what happened and explain myself, that I didn't mean for it to happen, that I had no control over what I felt for her, that if I could only turn back time, I will so that we could still be friends. But nothing, she ignored me and pretended like didn't know me at all, like I never existed. It broke my heart, like, big time. I actually never thought I could move passed that.
Anyway, like I said I considered myself still confused.
I had flings after that. I tried to date guys thinking it was just a phase, you know. Like a hormonal teenager, curious about everything.
I picked up my phone and texted my friend Sam.
Dude, any plans for tonight? Bored like hell.
I waited for a few minutes before I heard my phone "Ping".
Yeah, killing myself. I'm with my folks at a bible study. Wanna come?
I was half smiling and replied,
Naahh, I feel better now!
Making sure to send her three LOL emojis.
Tossed my phone on the side of my bed thinking of what to do when I heard my stomach rumbling.
Oh, now I'm hungry.
Not feeling to cook for myself, picked up my hoodie and in just a minute I was on my way to the diner.
Thinking of a cheeseburger and strawberry milkshake made my mouth water and my step gets faster.
As I entered the diner, I went straight to the stool bar as I was alone and ordered.
"Cheeseburger and strawberry milkshake, please."
"Comin' right up!" Says the lady behind the bar.
When my order came, I busied myself with it, savoring my cheeseburger, every bit of it like it was the most important thing in my life. I finished my food in no time, I took out some bills from my pocket and placed them beside my plate.
As I was headed to my building, I saw a woman trying to lift the box out of her trunk, I can say it was very heavy by the looks of it. I hurried myself wanting to help the poor girl. I couldn't see her face clearly as the box covered most of it.
"Hey, let me help you with that." I said while I was trying to grab half of the box to help her lift it. Doing so, it was inevitable to touch her hand.
It was soft and I felt something odd, like electricity. I was a little bit stunned when I leaned over to see her face, and suddenly I felt conscious. God, she looks so beautiful, like an angel.
Before I could come up with something to say, she smiled and said "Thank you" and my heart stopped hearing her voice.
"I moved into this building a couple days ago, my name is Emma."
I tried to smile back and look as normal as I could, but I don't think it came out right when I said "Hello" and my voice cracked like a boy just hit his adolescence.
I tried to clear my throat,
"H-Hello, I'm Jen, I also live in the building." Really? I stutter?
She smiled and guided me to where to put the box.
She lives just right next to our door, and I remember my mom telling me that we had a new neighbor a few days ago but I didn't really pay much attention to that.
"Would you like to have something to drink?" She asked when we put the box next to her couch.
"A glass of water would be fine."
"Ok, wait here."
I waited just like she said, her house was well furnished like she'd been living here for a few months now when in fact it's only been a few days. She must've hired someone to fix her apartment.
"Here's your water."
I can't help but notice how stunning she looks, her brown wavy hair compliments her hazel eyes, and pinkish lips that look so soft. I'm guessing she's between 22 to 25 years old, 5'4 or 5'5 when I myself am 5'7. She has all the curves in the right places, I mean I thought nobody's perfect but here I am looking at one.
I must've stared at her for a good 2 minutes before she needed to clear her throat and announced her presence.
"I-I'm sorry, my Mom didn't tell me staring is rude." Wth is happening to me?
She burst into a fit of laughter and it felt like music in my ear.
"I like your house, looks nice for having just moved in." I tried to change the topic.
She smiled sweetly, "My sister helped me decorate it."
"Oh, I see" All I could say. "Anyways, I should go now, I'm sure there's still a lot that you need to do."
"Okay, uhmm, you can come visit sometimes, if you are bored and in need of company."
I cannot believe she said that, that she invited me to hang out with her.
She must have sensed that it shocked me, "Well, if you just want to, I mean were neighbors, you know."
"I would love that Em, can I call you Em?" My excitement was heightened when she invited me over.
"Of course, my friends actually call me Em." She smiled.
"Bye Em."
"Bye Jen."
