"W-Well..." I am stuttering, I know. And it will not be good if I don't speak now, as in now!
She's staring at me intently, waiting for me to answer her.
Suddenly, why am I feeling so guilty? I didn't do anything wrong. Maybe it's the way she stares at me. It makes me feel bad.
"Why do you always seem to be out of words when it comes to Kate? Whenever I asked you about her you became mute. Is there anything that I need to know?"
She stood up and my eyes followed her walk towards the kitchen.
"Would you like some water or juice?" She opened the refrigerator and took out the orange juice.
Though I didn't tell her what I wanted, she poured two glasses and made her way to the couch.
She handed me my glass and drank hers.
"Well?"
Before I answer her, I sip on my drink.
"She's my friend. And friends do hug each other." I said without breaking the eye contact.
"Hmm .." She utters. Again she sipped in her drink.
"What hmm?"
She put her glass on the coffee table and looked at me.
I know that look, she wanted me to explain.
"We were on the same detention yesterday and she helped me with my chores and we got to talking. I told her that I'll give our friendship another chance."
"Hmm.." She broke the contact and turned on the television. She gestured for me to sit beside her as I was blocking the TV.
"That's it?" I don't wanna fight with her, especially about Kate, but her reaction confuses me.
"Would you rather me yelling and slapping your arms?" She looked beside me and smirked.
She's not mad. Maybe I'll just leave it at that.
I anchored my arm to hers and rested my face on her shoulder. She tried to fix herself for me to be comfortable.
My skin still burns under hers. I could still feel the butterflies in my stomach whenever our body touched. Her warmth calms me.
I like it. No, I love it.
I wish we could stay like this forever. Though she made it crystal clear that we are not in a relationship, I will take whatever she can give me.
I wonder how a simple touch gives me a million sensations.
Emma looked at me when she heard my stomach growled. That's definitely not the butterfly.
I'm sure my face was flushed when she burst out laughing.
I am starving and she's laughing.
"Oh my god, Jen. That is so loud, so loud the neighbors for sure heard it." And she continued laughing.
"I was starving when I reached home. And I was about to prepare my dinner when I read your text to come over here, so.."
That made her stop.
"Come on, get up." She patted my cheek twice. I watched her as she stood up.
"You'll cook for me?" my face lit up thinking about Emma cooking for me.
She looked back at me and started laughing again.
"You're kidding, right?"
My eyebrows furrowed at that.
