Hoseok's POV

I set all the plates onto the table along with the food and waited. "Why isn't she here?" I wondered anxiously. "It's a bit chilly." I looked around and saw the window next to the counter was a bit open. Ahh. No wonder it was colder. I got up and closed it. "Should I call her?"

Thinking that it was the best idea I grabbed my phone and dialed her number.

The number you're trying to reach is unavailable at this moment. Please try again later. Thank you.”

What's this? Where is she? She still should have had breakfast. Whatever, I'll just bring it over to her place. I packed the lunch neatly in the lunchbox and walked to her house. Pressing the doorbell, I took a few steps back and waited. A few seconds later, the door was opened by a lady. Who?

"Yes?" she asked, and I asked her if my friend was here. "No. She left early in the morning."

"I see; to where?"

"Who knows? It’s not as if that brat tells anyone where she's going."

"I- I see." She left for somewhere, but she should have told me. I looked at the lady, "And you are-?" I asked.

"Her mother."

Her mother? That's impossible. I know how her mother looks like. Unless she magically changed or had plastic surgery, this woman was not her mother.

"Mother . . . " Clearly my confused face was read by her.

"Her real mother is dead; I'm her aunt." she said and closed the door. Dead? When? She was perfectly healthy when I left; well, yeah, I left years ago but . . .

I walked down the stairs and looked back at the door.

I see. It must have been devastating. She only had her mother.

I walked out of the gate when another question hit me.

What about her brother?

Your POV

I silently waited in the meeting room, tapping my fingers on the table when the door opened and an officer came out.

"Your brother is here. You have 30 minutes to talk to him."

"Okay." I nodded, and he let my brother, Ren, through the door.
I smiled at him as he walked over to my table in that familiar gray uniform and a worn-out smile.

"You look pretty," he complimented me as he sat down on the chair across me. "Electric pink?" he tried guessing the color of my lipstick, and I laughed.

"You finally got the color right."

"Ah, finally."

"So I hope it's not too hard to cope in there."

"Well it's the same."

"Are your cellmates good? They don't fight or-"

"Baby sis. It's fine. I'm fine."

"I'll get the bail money soon enough. Just wait a little longer, and I'll get you out of here."

"Okay. But I keep getting this strange feeling as if you're doing something wrong."

"What's that supposed to mean? What? Have I become an assassin?"

"No, I- I just don't want you to get into trouble as I did."

I snorted, "You didn't get in trouble; you were framed. And I'll make sure that you get out."

"Sis," he said, taking a deep breath, "forget about me. Live your own life."

"Why?!" I slammed my hands on the table as I stood up.

"Calm down." He tried making me sit with his handcuffed hands as he looked at the entry door. "Even if I get out, how will I live as an ex-convict?"

"Staying in the cell has gotten your thinking all fuzzy." I stood up straight. "Everything will be fine once I get you out." I looked down at him and saw the worry in his eyes. "I'm leaving," I said and began walking away, refusing to hear his last words.

"No. I think staying here cleared up some stuff."

I took a taxi home, but I didn't feel like going in. I just stood by the gate.

Okay. Relax, and everything will be fine. I'll get him out. I nodded to myself.

"Panda!" I turned to see Hoseok running towards me. "Where were you the whole day? Did you eat something? You didn't, did you?" He grabbed my wrist. "Let's eat first."

He took me to his house and made me eat.

"Are you okay? I met your aunt today, and she told me about your mother. I'm sorry I wasn't there."

"Hobi . . . "

"Why? What is it? You can tell me."

"Why are you always so sweet?"

"What . . . ?"

"Want to drink?" I sniffed. "I really want to just get drunk."

" . . . " He looked a bit worried but nodded in the end. "Okay. I'll take some beer from the fridge." I nodded as he went into the kitchen and brought the alcohol.

Without a word I began drinking. I was upset at how Ren was changing his mind. I was angry. I kept drinking in silence until I got very drunk and spilled out everything about the past.
